Is anyone really that surprised N’Zogbia has handed in a transfer request?
He was quoted weeks ago saying that we would let him go if a suitable bid came in. He’s now forcing the issue. It was only going to be a matter of time.
Of course this is linked to Sunderland selling Jones and you can see quite clearly from Bruce’s comments that he’s trying to force us into accepting a lower bid.
Well quite frankly we should grant his transfer request but make him sweat while we start a bidding war. If no one matches our valuation he can play with us until someone does.
He wouldn’t do himself any favours by sulking and not putting in all in, after all this wouldn’t help his new career with Les Bleus, which he wouldn’t have if it wasn’t for us.
I’d have Moses any day over N’Zog as you know the young lad is going to give it 100% every game. Besides he’s more talented in my book – he can play with both feet.
If N’Zog goes it should be on our terms and in keeping with our policy of taking a chance of players, letting them shine and then selling them on for a profit.
He should also not forget that is Martinez who has transformed him from left-sided utility player who was regarded as something of a full-back to the Premier League’s best dribbler (according to Opta).
12 August 2010 at 6:03 pm #42194What has Steve Bruce said?
12 August 2010 at 6:05 pm #42195Said he’d love to sign him but not at the price we want.
He’s said exactly the same thing about Bellamy. He’s trying it on to get his targets on the cheap the old potato bent nose!
12 August 2010 at 6:32 pm #42201if that’s all he’s said I don’t think he’s done that much (if anything wrong)
In an ideal world every manager would say (when asked about interest in another team’s player) that they “don’t comment on other team’s players” but all he’s said is that he would be interested but he’s too expensive
Doesn’t mean that Latcis have to accept N’Zogbia’s transfer request or accept a lower bid for him coz Bruce won’t pay over £8mill for him12 August 2010 at 7:27 pm #42212All seems a bit odd to me. We’ve always told him he can go if the cash we want for him is offered. If it was and we accepted a bid – and he hadn’t handed in a transfer request – then he’d be due a shed load in “loyalty” payments for not asking for the move himself.
But now he hands in a request, waives that right and gets nothing, and we probably still will be asking as much for him now as we always have been.
Has he shot himself in the foot ?
If I was him I’d have stuck around one more transfer window – like Valencia did when he turned down Real Madrid to get the move to Manchester United that he had dreamed of.
N’Zogbia doesn’t strike me as the brightest so maybe he / his agent haven’t thought about it that way.
Or maybe he doesn’t believe in himself as much as he should and Sunderland / Birmingham are HIS dream move.
12 August 2010 at 7:32 pm #42213there is every possibility that the french national team management has told nzogbia – you did very well lad, but you do really need to go to a top club if you want to stay in the national setup.
12 August 2010 at 7:37 pm #42214Definitely a ‘confidence player’, and one always liable to make rash decisions about his career.
Look at how we signed him? Roy Kinnear made some comment about him being called ‘Insomnia’, or something like that, either as a light-hearted comment, joke, or quip, and he responded by putting in a transfer request! He got on his high horses, and Kinnear was thrown….. ;) ***
There then came tales that he and his agent had been claiming that the likes of Arsenal and AC Milan were after signing him…..absolute rubbish. His agent is obviously of the scumbag kind, who will do anything to get him a move.
If I was Roberto, I’d look to bring a replacement in as soon as, and get him sold for as much as possible. That said, I know for a fact that Ronnie Stam can play further forward, if required, and looks very fast.
I’ll be happy if we can just have N’Zogbia for these first two, home games of the season. Tell him to ‘Sell himself’ by performing to the best of his ability. Then we get good displays from him, and hopefully a nice sum off someone for him.
I’ll be dissappointed in him if he goes to Birmingham or Blunderland, though.
***Yeah, I know, it was JOE Kinnear, Not Roy. I just wanted to use the horse comment.

I think we should accept his transfer request then let him go only when we have a replacement and the fee that the club wants
12 August 2010 at 7:56 pm #42217Agreed. He’s left it a bit late to hand in his request – why didnt he do it Chimbonda style if he’s that desperate to go.
If we cant get in a replacemnt within time to also sell him he should be professional enough to realise he’s left it all a bit late and give his upmost until Jan.
That said, i think he’s probably the sort to disrupt the dressing room so best bet would to be either get rid regardless of getting someone else in, or get Pollitt to give him a clip around the ear’ole.
12 August 2010 at 8:00 pm #42218I think we should accept his transfer request then let him go only when we have a replacement and the fee that the club wantsin reality everyman and his dog has expected nzogbia to leave in the close season, even whelan/martinez,so i think that any possible replacement will have already been identified.

Good point
12 August 2010 at 8:14 pm #42220Good pointaye and i’d gladly shove it up his froggy arse if i saw him
12 August 2010 at 8:43 pm #42221I know Sky are usually right when they say stuff like this. But until it’s official I’ll not take it to be true. There doesn’t to be anything on their news channel on the bit that changes at the bottom at all.
12 August 2010 at 10:20 pm #42226If he does then let’s start calling him “Insomnia” and let him remember what he was thought of outside Latics.

This is the problem with unstable players like Zog, he just wants a quick fix move to a mediocre club like Sunderland. He could wait a season and be a big export like Valencia was.
