I’d also say get shut of Mandron & Laurent too – seems a little unfair bearing in mind that I only saw them briefly away at QPR & they’ve not had much chance but given Joyce’s transfer record I’m mindful to get shut rather than wait another year

it’s unbelievable how many players we’ve turned over in the past few years. Normally I can sit there saying “Yeah we got him from…….or….he’s on loan from……but now I’ve not a clue. We need to chop back the dead wood dramatically, shrink the squad to a manageable amount of players so they know they stand have a chance of getting a game.

Because it starts off by claiming we need to get rid of 11 players….which we clearly don’t, unless we fancy playing in a 5 a side league this season…..
…and then ends by saying he hopes Cook doesn’t make wholesale changes.
I think that’s clear enough.
we have a 39 man squad according to the main site. get rid of 11 means 28 which id say is right. I think by wholesale changes he means the 14 in and 14 out we normally see.
Keep the best players and build round em.

By this I mean bringing in bucket loads of never to play players then, then loan them straight out before their all released 12-24 months later.
Count up how many were loaned out or got hardly any game time then those who were shown the door then those who are simply not good enough, 11 probably no were near enough.
If they are all that good why are we in Div1 ?Not getting into a debate as I can’t be arsed, but actually we have a squad of 25 pros who we can select from. This excluded the likes of lavercome and McKay etc. They aren’t in his plans. That 25 also includes Mandron….also thought to be on his way, and Macdonald, who is currently injured.
I’ve not included the likes of Lang and Stubbs…they can’t be called upon week in and week out. League one is harder than people think. They’re fringe players at best.
So based on the actual solid pro’s we have, we currently have 23 players to select from. Since the end of last season, around 15 or 16 players have left our club. We were too loan heavy last season and I can’t see Paul Cook going the same way. I don’t think we are far short now. Maybe another couple of players to come in and give us a solid 26 man squad and the youngsters as well.
Ha ha yeah alright. Judged on what? Liverpool.and Southport friendlies?
Some teams would have a field day against the youngsters, not fair to expect them to have to step up as regulars yet.
