16 May 2019 at 2:33 am #178835I think this season showed that what Jose has done in the last two seasons winning trophies and finishing 2nd at Utd shows exactly how good he is.
As for Liverpool, yes they have a great coach but he has spent €442m why he has been at Liverpool so basically an average of £100m a year to get the squad he has and TBH he probably only has a squad of 14 or 15 players that are any good.
Net spend is around 90m for Klopp egg. Figure you mention above is very similar to that of Jose’s total spend.
No comparison between the style of footy each of them play. Most utd fans I know are not sorry he’s gone.16 May 2019 at 1:08 pm #178840Tough to control egos as big as those in the game nowadays I expect. Even Leicester players have had 2 managers sacked recently. As soon as you lose a few games they spit their dummies.I think regardless of why he gets the boot, Jose is a superb coach/manager as are klopp and pep
Absolutely true marrer it must be a nightmare trying to keep some of the modern pro,s in check these days and I think that’s why Mourinho has become a dinosaur. Man management seems to be as important today as coaching skills and he hasn’t got it. Its all about himself and that’s why as you say the ego,s clash and dummies get spat.

And that is another problem. Fans want instant success and have very short memories.

No comparison between the style of footy each of them play. Most utd fans I know are not sorry he’s gone. This net spend argument of the Mousers is very subjective – last summer Klopp spent £161,550,000 & recouped £33,500,000 so his net spend alone last season was £128,050,000. From the stats I found online last summer Guardiola spent £63,720,000 & sold £70,050,000 of players so in the same period he had a net spend of -£6,330,000
Liverpool’s net spend in the whole time Klopp has been here are skewed by the fact that they got £142mill for 1 player which equates for half their total sales. I heard Scousers banging on last week on TalkSport that what Klopp has achieved was greater than Guardiola this season coz they’ve spent next to nothing compared to City, almost as if he’s had his team ripped apart in order to fund new signings but it simply isn’t true. The vast majority of the rest of their sales is also skewed by the fact that, at will, they seem to be able to rip off Crystal Pace & Bournemouth for their squad players (Benteke, Ibe, Solanke & Sakho) to the tune of a combined figure of almost £90mill. No-one they’ve sold since Klopp arrived other than Coutinho has been anything more than a squad player
Both are clearly great managers who are able to motivate their players to a hell of a level – in some respects, as much as I hate City I see what they did this season as a greater achievement than Liverpool (in the league) as aside from the obvious i.e. winning it, to be put under the pressure that they were by Liverpool & not to crack takes some doing

17 May 2019 at 12:03 am #178847I like watching match of the day, I also enjoy the champions league, England games and the odd local league. I am also looking forward to the women’s World Cup this summer.

I’ll not say much for fear of offending any female fans, but womans football is shite, and if we didn’t live in such a namby pamby lefty politically correct era the media coverage would be virtually zero where it should be.17 May 2019 at 2:57 am #178850Net spend is around 90m for Klopp egg. To look soley at the last twelve months spend of city and Liverpool is subjective in itself. And why are city in trouble with the football authorities?
All clubs buy and sell, it business. And a lot of clubs pay over the odds for some bang average players which isn’t the fault of the selling club?17 May 2019 at 10:36 am #178851Lopes and Windass are two examples but on a smaller scale.
17 May 2019 at 5:42 pm #178853Windass certainly hasn’t shone donny. Don’t think his heart is at the DW.
Not sure about Lopez haven’t seen enough of him. I can only recall seeing him once this season? Didn’t shine but can’t recall him doing too much wrong either?

All clubs buy and sell, it business. And a lot of clubs pay over the odds for some bang average players which isn’t the fault of the selling club? That’s the point – one particularly irate Scouser was saying, City needed 2 full backs & spent £mills. Liverpool needed 2 & spent £8mill so Klopp was better – completely neglecting to mention the net figures that both had spent last summer.
Ultimately though City had a great side in 17/18 & didn’t spend much last summer. Liverpool had a very good side in 17/18 & spent a fortune last summer to make themselves great.
They’ve both spent a freaking fortune whether that money came from oil barons, TV deals, sponsorship, state money or player sales
But, as Fulham amongst others showed, just chucking a load of money at a team doesn’t guarantee results & both are clearly excellent man manager’s & tacticians tooAnd my point about how much Palace & Bournemouth pay for Liverpool players wasn’t a dig at Liverpool – if they can get that then fair enough but it staggers me how both clubs seem so gullible when it comes to forking out for Liverpool players. I mean £19mill for Solanke who barely used to make Liverpool’s squad & who’s top flight scoring record at present is 31 games (24 sub – not sure if that means 24 of those 31 appearances have come as a sub or whether its 31 + 24 but anyway) & 1 goal!!!

Would you rather look at Steph Houghton or Stan Laurel lookalike Phil Jones?.
17 May 2019 at 9:40 pm #178858You do them a disservice lads, embrace the summer football tournament and enjoy it, if you proclaim to watch non league standard the the women’s football is at least as good as that. I will enjoy it anyway,

I will enjoy it anyway,It isn’t patch on non league football, I would put it on a level of lads Under 15’s football at the very best.
I did hear that prior to the last major tournament England Ladies had a warm up match against England Schoolboys, and the margin of victory to the lads was that great the press were banned from reporting on it and it was kept under wraps.
Needless to say, I won’t be watching much, if any of it.18 May 2019 at 3:15 am #178861I’ve. never sat down to watch a game but have seen plenty highlights clips…..and to be fair I’ve seen a few blinding goals…..and some nice play ….but dearie me….most of the goalkeeping has been
dreadful ….and some of it beyond parody. -
