i’ll be there, steep i know, but im a proper fan. fair play if you are to tight to pay it is alot of money for 90mins.

Coming on here and giving it ‘the big one’ about being a proper fan and labelling anybody who doesn’t go to Old Trafford as not a proper fan is an absolute piss-take.

So as I’m not going to Old Trafford, I must’nt be a proper fan, this despite nigh-on 30 years of following this club, and going on 70-odd grounds around the country during that time. It must all have been a bit like when Bobby Ewing died in ‘Dallas’…and then reappeared in the next series, and it had all been a dream.
Did it REALLY happen? Did I REALLY visit such wonderful arena’s as Sealand Road, Chester, Belle Vue, Doncaster, and Dean Court, Bournemouth, to name a few? Did I REALLY stand on places such as the piss-wet and wind-swept terracing as Huddersfield’s Leed’s Road ground and witness many capitulation’s and successes?

As I’m not a ‘proper fan’, I must have dreamed it all…..

….but then again, maybe I’m actually a PROPER fan who know’s when he is being scammed and refuses to be parted of such vast sums of money?

Perhaps it is more down to the fact that as you get older, you understand the value of money more. You have a mortgage. You have bills to pay, a car to insure and put petrol in.You have kids to feed. I have two kids, both of schoolgoing age. Here’s a lesson about the reality of growing up and having a family. In the last few weeks, I have had to buy them both brand new uniforms and shoes. Now, I always buy my kids CLARKS shoes. They are quality, they last. They average at around £40 a pair. So I spent £80 on school shoes. And then there was their uniform. In total, I probably paid around £200 for uniforms and shoes.

Now, I really did want to go to Old Trafford. But when I weighed up the choice of buying my kids a decent pair of school shoes, or spending £45 on MYSELF at a football stadium that these days resembles a tourist trap of a carnival… and one where we tend to get nothing from the referee and are generally hard done by, I soon came to the conclusion that, no, I wouldn’t be drawn in to parting with £45 of my money. For what? 90 minutes of wonderful football action? Can anybody actually say 100% that 90 minutes football IS WORTH £45? I don’t believe it is, unless it’s a one off match like a cup final or semi final. I did want to take my 6 year old for a day out, but no way was I going to pay £17 for him. (It costs me about £13 per match with my season ticket at Latics)

So you see, Sudworth, when you get older and understand money, and it’s actual value, you start to appreciate what is more important. I could go to every away game if I really wanted to, but you see that’s just it. I DON’T WANT TO! Because if I did, my kids would miss out. They would possibly be undernourished by living off cheap, crap food, and would be dressed in rags and re-cycled ‘A Team’ t-shirts from jumble sales. They would probably have no toys to play with. Their X Box would’ve been long gone….pawned into Cash Convertors for about £12. Holiday’s would be strictly out of the question…perhaps a bus ride to Southport. But at the end of the day, maybe it would all be worth it?

Because then I would be deemed a ‘proper fan’ by Sudworth.**

                  Bellend.

The ‘diehards’, as you call them, are the people who still go to games who were there in the days of Hartlepool at home in 1995, crowd: 1,427.

NOT the people who go to Old Trafford and pay £45 in 2012.

‘Thick and thin’….Were you actually THERE during the ‘thin’? Yet another really bad whopper who has latched on to this club.

The main reason I don’t go to away games is some of the absolute tit’s that do.

Does Clarks still have them big fancy electronic machines that measure your feet for you?

Health and Safety’s banned them. Apparently bombarding kiddies feet with X-rays is somehow deemed to be harmful

                      Sorry – yes.

When I were a lad we had these – they were X-ray machines and you stuck your feet in them and then the assistant and your Mum looked down and saw how much room there was in your new shoes.

They really were all over the place though.
