7 November 2014 at 3:41 pm #135075Ahh name calling the last bastion of a poster who has lost the argument ahh well
How have I lost the argument? In fact there is no argument just you being a tit! Read the post properly! Egg, pedantry is not a good trait! When Preston play Blackpool, Forest play Derby, Utd play City etc etc, the word derby will no doubt appear in papers or be uttered on tv and radio! Tonight is a local derby like it or not but it is known as such!
7 November 2014 at 3:46 pm #135079You started an thread stating there would have been a thread about who is going tonight
I said You just started one
You asked how many tickets have we been allocated
I replied Over 2000 has stated plus upper tier open
Then again you asked but it would appear that nobody gives a fuck right now! This is supposed to be our big derby!
Just out of curiosity, how many have we sold?then another post told you
There’ll be around 2,000 there tonight that give a f**k, they just don’t frequent this site.
again all your questions answered

I only asked the one question! As for you stating the obvious that I have started a thread  Usually there is a hive of activity on here regarding this fixture and there has been nothing! The game kicks off in less than 8 hours! Has that sunk in numbskull?

It will yes and tonight is known as a derby. Doesn’t make it one though ;)
Just having a bit of light-hearted fun pal.
Either 2-1 Wigan or 3-0 Bowtun. I think if we lose we’ll get hammered.
7 November 2014 at 5:40 pm #135098Dodgy footage of an Latics classic against Bowton shades of world cup 66 and an biased commentator
7 November 2014 at 5:43 pm #135100I’ll be there.
BTW – there are only TWO actual derbies in Sport.
I’d disagree and say it’s three:
The Epsom Derby (The Derby Stakes)
Kentucky Derby
Derby County
A derby is a derby when it is deemed such by the Earl of Derby. Only two events have ever received such recognition. The derby that you refer too at Epsom and Wigan v St Helens.
The current Earl of Derby has confirmed that his family gave their name to only two sporting events; The Horse Race and the Rugby League match between St. Helens and local rivals Wigan.
I would suggest there are four derbies in sport then. The Epsom Derby
Wigan v St Helens
The Kentucky Derby (because this is its officially registered name)
Derby County Football Club7 November 2014 at 6:01 pm #135102I’ll give you number 3, but number 4????
What you been smoking ;)
7 November 2014 at 6:07 pm #135104wiki calls it an rivalry
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bolton_Wanderers_F.C.%E2%80%93Wigan_Athletic_F.C._rivalry
also this
The phrase most likely originated from The Derby, a horse race in England, founded by the 12th Earl of Derby in 1780, since at least as early as 1840 ‘derby’ has been used as a noun in English to denote any kind of sporting contest.
Another widely reported theory, though not accepted by the Oxford English Dictionary, is that the phrase came about from the city of Derby itself.[citation needed] It was renowned as the site of a chaotic and exuberant game that involved the whole town and often resulted in fatalities. The goals were at Nuns Mill in the north and the Gallows Balk in the south of the town, and much of the action took place in the Derwent river or Markeaton brook. Nominally the players came from All Saints’ and St Peter’s parishes, but in practice the game was a free-for-all with as many as 1,000 players. A Frenchman who observed the match in 1829 wrote in horror, ‘if Englishmen call this play, it would be impossible to say what they call fighting’. The traditional Shrovetide football match is commonplace in the town of Ashbourne, Derbyshire.”[1]
