To persuade the likes of burn, grigg & powell to stay at the club.
1 June 2017 at 2:58 pm #159485If contracted they can’t just leave so they should be with us untill they are out of contract. I think he should be persuading Punch and Judy not to sell them. If by August there are no ins and no outs we should fly. Perhaps a left wing to replace the gap left with selling Yanic.
1 June 2017 at 3:43 pm #159487They can leave if another club makes an offer which meets sharpies valuation.
1 June 2017 at 4:02 pm #159488Club will say no need to sell but also remember some players wont want to play division one football
And if they stay will probably upest rest of the squad
My betting one or two will leave late on transfer deadline day no time to replace or spend the transfer funds
Burn powell grigg i feel will be off1 June 2017 at 4:10 pm #159489If it is the clubs intention to sell them then none of them should play any part in pre-season matches and the same goes to the ones we want to get shut off like Billy McKay, Sammy Odelousi etc. If not we will get the same farcial pre-season as last season.
2 June 2017 at 1:42 am #159505Wheres Grigg gonna go?? Nobody in champ gonna want him.
2 June 2017 at 9:11 pm #159511Club will say no need to sell but also remember some players wont want to play division one footballMost of the squad either played it with Wigan or with another club. One season in the Championship as a member of a side that finished below everyone bar Rotherham doesn’t give them the right to play in that league for the rest of their careers.
2 June 2017 at 9:16 pm #159512Wheres Grigg gonna go?? Nobody in champ gonna want him.Grigg is an excellent example of a player who is not able to bridge the gap between League 1 and the Champ. Brentford sent him on loan when they got promoted. MK Dons didn’t buy him when they got promoted, and Brentford didn’t fancy him on the back of a successful season with MK Dons, hence why he ended up at Wigan.
I think the best we can hope for is for Grigg to be back on fire this season, and some desperate Champ club pays top dollar for him in January, like Norwich did with Wildschutt.
2 June 2017 at 9:37 pm #159513Could even find a strike partner for him but that won’t happen so either him or Bogle will have to bench warm.
Back to Cooks first job, I would say watch some videos of Paul Jewells League two champion winning side and of his Championship runners up side and see what standards are expected. Thinking of that side. How come our mid-field didn’t get over run??
A job probably before that would be to learn players nicknames and calculate how many end in a Y.4 June 2017 at 9:05 pm #159558Back to Cooks first job, I would say watch some videos of Paul Jewells League two champion winning side and of his Championship runners up side and see what standards are expected. Thinking of that side. How come our mid-field didn’t get over run??Because it was 14 years ago and back then virtually everyone played with 4 in midfield, until teams started to play with 5 and overrun them.
5 June 2017 at 2:27 am #159565Newcastle, Brighton and Huddersfield managed to not get overun in midfield last season and didn’t fair too badly and often played the old fashioned way.

5 June 2017 at 1:13 pm #159569Nah. Every side that wins plays 442. Its the future.
5 June 2017 at 7:27 pm #159586Each to their own Stu but I just found watching say Barlow and Haworth, Roberts and Ellington with wingers much more enjoyable to watch than the turgid passing sideways, walking the ball up the field type of game. If you like that fair enough if it’s what floats your boat.
5 June 2017 at 7:58 pm #159588Is that the same Barlow and Haworth who played as part of a 4-3-3?
