Basically because all the booted and suited FA tossers could do the “paperwork” and leave Arry to sort out the footballing side of things.

It’s amazing that 99% of all managers, fans, media and most importantly players wanted Redknapp for the job but the FA didn’t.

If you want to bring up Arry’s court case and the fact that the FA couldn’t morally put this fraudster in charge, lets talk about Mr Terry’s pending court case. Lets also talk about how Mr Terry forced a fellow player out of his national team by s*a**ing his girl friend.
    Double standards eh?

But the FA don’t pick the players. The FA pick the manager and the manager picks the players.

The difference is, the players are there to play football – and that’s it. If they are the captain, then yes, there is some moral responsibility around games and tournaments, but other than that, they’re there just to kick a ball around for ninety minutes.

The manager’s responsibilities go way beyond picking a team and doing a spot of coaching. England games are few and far between and much of the manager’s work is in an ambassadorial role. If the FA appointed a man who has admitted to being virtually illiterate, admitted to being totally disorganised, was investigated for financial irregularities (which many people still think he is guilty of), and is seen as a dodgy, wheeling and dealing ‘geezer’, they’d turn the England national team set-up into a laughing stock in the eyes of the world.

Better a ‘yes’ man than a ‘yes your honour’ man.

Jr, you did say that you would stand by the new England manager and support him as you have with Bob !( It was in some earlier thread ) You have been one of Bob’s keenest backers on here constantly stating that he needs time and so a manager who is unbeaten over 90mins in all his games in charge should surely receive the same backing from you should he not ?

I’m sorry but I hate the man with a vengeance and IMHO he should never have been handed the “poison chalice”.
Harry Redknap would have at least had a go at Italy and I for one would have been happy to lose 3-2 having a real go.

I’m afraid the FA have appointed a yes man and a multi linguist, big ticks in the FA’s job spec for the Englands managers job, great, great attributes for the head of our national team.
What a load of fekin bollux from start to finish!!.

Yes……this is the man we all want in charge of our National Team:

…..a true ambassador for England and the FA.

Tired now of hearing all the inquests and gibberish from pundits and ‘fans’ (most of whom have only ever watched football on telly by the sound of them) quoting soundbites they have read in the papers and heard on the radio/tv.
I remember when Taylor failed to get the then England team to USA 1994 world cup and they started a programme for kids and instigated small sided games etc.
The same sh/t is being spouted now so no doubt little jacks and johnnies across the land with soon be playing football with 2 a side and 3 balls watched over by their bully boy fathers on the touchlines.
My view is simple they couldnt give a sh/t about England and would have far sooner have been on the beach with their airhead spouses and their spoilt snotty nosed kids than playing for their country.
Any inquest is irrelevant because i think very few proper football supporters gives a flier anymore (outside of Woking and Kettering) and the sooner the radio/TV stops talking about these losers and starts focusing on the forthcoming football season the better in my opinion!

Come on now filmoss how can you compare backing the manager and team I love, to a national team who, ok I’ll watch and get behind every couple of years, but don’t cry when they do the usual and bomb out of tournaments without so much breaking sweat never mind pots. Now bear in mind again unlike Bobby, this vvanker has the cream of English footballers to pick from and still managed to get them to so under perform it was a joke. I have watched SSN again tonight looking at the stats from the euros and its worse than I actually thought.

Never lost in 90 mins you say, well wip woo. We played OK for 30 mins against France then got butchered for the next 60. We then just managed to claw past a very poor Swedish team conceding 2 goals [yes Roy you are more interest in stopping teams getting round the back]. We then are second best once again against Ukraine side who are unfortunate not to wollop us by 2 or 3. The Italy game, well cringe city boys!

If I’ve said in a previous thread I’ll back the English manager I must have been drunk, cos there is now way I am behind this prick, England OK Hodgeson no!
I’ve said in previous threads that I’m still holding a grudge against Mr Burns from his Blackburn days. It’s a bit like my love for Wigan rugby non existent.

In my mind Roy Hodgeson is a legend in his own mind, we all know what he managed to get out of a Liverpool squad worth multi millions of dosh.

You are bob on Fil, I didn’t want Bob to fail with all my heart and soul. Hodgeson fail?, get the fooker sacked after the first three 0-0 draws in the WC qualifiers.

Turn England around? I R reet!!

Its amazing that for the last 20 years we have chosen the worse managers in teh world to manage this team of world class players that people seem to assume should win everything.

I appreciate you dislike Roy, however I believe you are extremely nieve to believe he has no abvility as a manager, given his managerial track record, even the Liverpool stint was better than King Kenny, but who hasnt failed at Liverpool recently.

Maybe Roy played with what he had available to him and at short notice, we over performed at the Euro’s so isnt that an achievement, or are you sitting in the We Must Win Everything camp? We had a limited squad, players that were not fully fit or injured, our only start forward was suspended for the first two games and how could we have played with 5 in midfield with that squad.

Time and time again England do the same thing and each time people blame the manager etc etc.

The route of the problem sits with English mentality and the premier league limiting England players to 30% of the players in the division. So we have bread tallented players who rarely lead teams, but play alongside european tallent, so when we come to the games against Italy of this world, we struggle.

Glad we got Hodgson instead of Redknapp. He isn’t that good a Manager and has far too much off the field baggage. Unfortunately now he’s not in management I expect to see him every Sunday at the side of Jamie on Super Sunday. Wonderful.

Spot on in my opinion edinburgh.

The only major blip on Hodgson’s CV is his time at Liverpool, but virtually everyone has failed there for the past ten years.

He’s had overseas success and international experience, and is a good ambassador for the game. He did a good job at Fulham and likewise at WBA – on limited budgets, by instilling his philosophies and style of play. With England, people are expecting him to do that after ten training session.

I thought this was an interesting comment by Oliver Holt in today’s Mirror:-

I spoke yesterday to a midfielder who plays for a club that finished in the bottom half of the Premier League last season.

He laughed at the criticism that had been aimed at James Milner and Ashley Young.

He pointed out that Roy Hodgson had effectively asked them to play at full-back and on the wing – and that the demands placed on them had been almost impossibly high.

He said the same applied to Wayne Rooney, who was asked to drop deep and track back.

He insisted that if Rooney had been in the Italian team, he would have been the best player on the pitch.

Then he laughed. “The funniest thing about it,” he said, “was that they were having to do exactly what we have to do when we play United and City.”

Lets all agree to disagree on this one and wait till he’s had plenty of training sessions under his belt to sort out his tactics.

Lets also hope that he quickly sees that both Milner and Young who he stuck with throughout the tournament, are to international football as the Krankies are to Las Vegas cabaret. :woohoo: B)
