Nicked from another site, but interesting
Leeds and (I believe) Birmingham City are among the clubs about to get nailed with an 8-figure tax bill for attempting to dodge wage taxes and taxes arising from profits on sales of players by having their transactions/wages handled by offshore entities. Leeds won’t be able to pay the principal, let alone the interest and fines. Daily Mirror has the story, but they’re waiting to find out who the other 7 clubs are – apparently two at least are Premiership, they think Man City and Birmingham City – and are waiting to get confirm before they publish….
Leeds is definitely one of the clubs in the shoot – been paying players via this “Forward” corporation they had set up in the Caribbean and the man from the HMRC, he say “no”
1 June 2010 at 9:48 pm #35327And people on here still criticise Dave Whelan.
We all know that we are not one of the clubs involved due to his close (not to say “tight”) stewardship.
1 June 2010 at 9:57 pm #35330That Young character at Birmingham seems all to willing to commit his club to multi-million pound transfer deals, no doubt with a fraction of the total amount paid up front, but when a bill drops on his doormat for a couple of million he can’t seem to find the money.
Remind you of anyone?
2 June 2010 at 1:19 am #35347Whats happened with P.N.E. Dont know how true this can be. but today a Preston fan reckons that Sir Alex Fergi and Hemmings could be takeing over the helm at Deepdale. dont know how true this is but time will tell.
2 June 2010 at 3:37 am #35351Preston’s latest urban myth about Fergie and TH ! They are in court on Thursday for tax job but that will just get moved to another date and so forth. Look at Cardiff their case kept getting deferred whilst they hoped for promotion. Not sure what will happen to them now. There are loads of clubs struggling !
2 June 2010 at 3:41 am #35352I doubt Birmingham are in trouble…Yet!

As far as I’m aware, Cardiff’s hearing was postponed again as they provided proof that some Malaysian businessman was buying the club & he gave confirmation that the tax bill would be settled upon completion of his takeover
I think that takeover was confirmed late last week hence why they now seem to be offering big money deals to the likes of Joe Ledley & Craig Bellamy2 June 2010 at 12:36 pm #35356I think that takeover was confirmed late last week hence why they now seem to be offering big money deals to the likes of Joe Ledley & Craig Bellamyand Jason Koumas if the rumours are to be beleived, though Koumas reckons he wants to fight for a place here. I am guessing a lure of good dosh will change that though/

Don’t think you can use the words “Koumas” and “fight” in the same sentence; not in football context anyway.2 June 2010 at 4:50 pm #35389koumas ,fight, football, three words that cant be used together ;)
3 June 2010 at 12:48 am #35439koumas ,fight, football, three words that cant be used together ;)What about ” I could quite happily fight (and probably win) Jason Koumas if I saw him playing football for us again ! ” :P
