And now I read Maloney’s looking at possibly Brandon Williams as cover for Chambers a guy who’s a troubled soul and has seemingly lost his passion for the game.
And not just that, how longs it going to take (if possible) to get him or anyone else who’s no contract to get them ready and match fit ? 4-6 weeks??. It will be around Jan before their fit. It would be easier just to get someone in the Jan window.
Or, what about using Millar who was outstanding in his 2 appearances and Luke Robinson as cover till he fully recovers?

Thing is Maloney stated we have players that can play LB Ramsay, Miller, Carra, Sess, and McHugh. yet he’ll go and try to find a left back that will take until Christmas to get match fit.
One of the above are going to have to play there until whoever he brings in is match fit so I can’t make any sense of what he is wittering on about!
The only reason he won’t bring in a CF and fuck Hugill off is because he admitted he’d been chasing him for 12 months, he’s not good enough, huge mistake and Maloney and the recruitment team will have egg on their faces for the latest balls up!
Unbelievable, according to Maloney we dont need to replace Stones.” “Whether that’s Joe and Dale…we’ve also got Maleace (Asamoah), Chris Sze is now back and training with the group, he’s looked very good in training and will definitely play next Tuesday (against Nottingham Forest Under-21s in the final group game of the Bristol Street Motors Trophy)…and Thelo (Aasgaard) has played in that No.9 as well, so we’re fine.”…..F####### delusional…….they are not strikers…..they are not the players to take that 1 chance that can turn the game our way. Aasgaard no 9.???..Give me strength!!!!!..Did he watch him 2nd half at Blackpool? Didn’t win 1 ball. Every man and his pooch can see the glaring issue……the manager obviously away with the fairies!!
Part of me has sympathy for Maloney because it sounds like he’s doing the work of ten men, when all he should be concentrating on is managing the team. But if he’s daft enough to do it, more fool him.
Bringing in a 33 year old defender when we are crying out for a real centre forward, I am scratching my head. We lack goals and you could merge Taylor and Hugill together and you still wouldn’t have Pat Gavin. Yes, Pat Gavin, a wanton journeyman who we picked up free in 1993. He came in, scored a few goals, was never a world beater but did for us at the time.
And that’s what we need right now. The attendance tomorrow is going to be very poor I think. Honestly, I’ve no intention of going to a game any time soon. Nothing is whetting the appetite.
I know Stones isn’t ready but most clubs aren’t in the predicament we are money and player wise.
We are trying to achieve the impossible dream to be, “Self sufficient”something only a handful of clubs can actually do in all the 4 top divisions.
So how would you achieve this?, I’m not sure tbh. To me it seems impossible at a club like ours but some how we have to try and generate extra money without raising the outgoings.
Going up to the Championship comes at a hefty price which we all know to well about. We get more money by going up but whatever we gain is taken back in player fees and wages or you just Rotherham it and yo-yo it.
So here’s two contentious points of views that might hit a nerve with a few on here:-
I heard today the ground will be split from both the football and rugby and listed as a new company then both codes pay rent. This will allow for any one of the 2 codes to be sold without affecting the other so alarm bells start to gently be rattled.
The name of the stadium ? “Brick Stadium” a charity close to Danson’s heart and a good charity but what does the club gain financially from giving the naming rights to a charity when self sufficient is the new in word?.
I know one thing, if we had of sold the naming rights rather than giving them away for free we could have used that money and put it back into paying for the high running cost of the stadium but as it stands right now we get nothing financially.
You might say well DW did it ?, true but the difference between Danson & Whelan was, Whelan put his money were his mouth was and backed every manger he had so he was fully within his rights to generate money from the free advertising.
Womens football team ? That’s not cheap to run. We have the running cost of that at a time were been told “Sorry there’s no money for players or wages”.
So who pays their running cost ? us? Danson ?? Is it coming out of Wigan Athletics bank account?. Managers coaches physio’s kits travel etc etc etc the running cost of a women’s side is a drain on resources at a time when as a club were been told to cut our cloth correctly while we’re currently running on one of the lowest budgets in all 4 leagues.
Does this mean WAFC will pay the womens rent to?. If it’s Danson forking out for the cost then it’s abit tongue in cheek for him to say:-
“Maloney sod off from my door will tear pal I’m spending it were I like and No ! you can’t have him him n him, Hughes money you ask? Boyce has it”.
Personally to be self sufficient you have to generate more revenue than what’s going out.
Naming rights revenue was a missed opportunity,
Starting a women’s side wrong fiantual climate to start that up,
Letting players we have on our books go to lower non league clubs on loan while a bunch of average players absolutely no better than what’s gone out get valuable minutes to enhance their stock value to their parents club.
This stadium split is dangerous and it looks like his plan to pull the rug is coming nicely together.
Self sufficient ? Come on be honest with yourself Danson

With the piss poor nonsensical recruitment, news on stadium ownership switch ,no ceo and the footballing manure we suffer the optimism I had for future for Wigan Athletic with the news of Dansons purchase has seriously eroded. We don’t need an emergency striker transfer news caps it all. Are there really any positives concerning our club at present cos unless you are high as F%%% on everything Wigan Athletic then I for one cannot see one. Starting to get a bit concerned as to the path Danson is taking our club down ,it certainly isn’t the Yellow brick road.
We’ve missed put on so much sponsorship and investment over the years. In the majority of the Premier league years, we had either JJB of D.W. Sports as the stadium “sponsor”. But how do you give money to yourself, for something you own? So all those years where we had a great opportunity to attract decent sponsorship for the stadium, and we missed out on it. We even had JJB as our lit manufacturer and also our front of shirt sponsorship. Why? Yes, it maximised brand exposure for our owner and his businesses. But look where JJB is now…gone. So that did well then…
The income we missed out on though, due to that cronyism. As soon as the Whelan’s sold up, we were f@&£d big time. With them steering the ship, and backing the managers, we did amazingly well over the years.
From the moment they went, we were dodging sea mines. The nightmare of Choi, then Talal and his gang, we’ve just not had proper financial management of the club since the Whelan’s went. We now have the wealthiest owner we will likely every have, but to what aim or end, none of us are actually sure, or convinced.
Any owner at whatever level, really has to put some money into a club somewhere along the line. You have to have ambition and aims, or else why bother? At the moment, I’ve no idea what our actual aim is. I can tell you what my fear is though. My fear is we sink into the relegation mire and I fear we wouldn’t get out of it. Wigan Athletic in League Two? Well, it’s happened to Bradford and they get really good home gates. And if we do fall down to League Two, if Danson really does want to see us progress, he’s then going to have to spend even more money. The trouble is, we will be a harder sell to attract players, so the task of getting a good side together will be even harder. If we did fall down this season, we need to pack in with signing loads of loan players. There is no longevity to it. It’s our own players we need to bring through and pick up players who are OUR players who we can sell on in the future. Having a squad full of loan players means your losing out on having any value into the squad. I’ve no doubt we will be lucky to have Tickle and Asgaard after the transfer window. That will be two really big losses. Can we replace them without spending money? No. Don’t forget we’ve sold Charlie Hughes already. Some of that money shouldve been used for strengthening. I am surprised at the poor quality of the players we have brought in. None have impressed me especially. Maybe I set my sights too high.
I get what you say about Whelan but I’m not blowing his trumpet. Whelan sold his sporting empire for a tidy sum it wasn’t him that got it wrong it was the investors who bought it.
As for JJB and DW naming rights ?, it sold his company name globally building the brand name and in turn it brought in more money.
Whichever way you look at it he spent & invested his own wealth into the club.
My point was for us to become “self sufficient, self sustainable” we have to make massive cuttbacks throughout the club from players to staff. Right now were close to rock bottom. When you can’t pay guys to open a turnstile up you know your at the rock bottom.
Then the next step once your running on a shoestring budget you look at ways to maximise money coming into the club and stadium naming rights is always a decent earner.
Why we started a woman’s team when we’ve not a pot to piss in is beyond me. I’m not against a women’s side but for FS let us get our head above water first.
I’m the same, I haven’t a clue why Danson took over. If he mapped out a long term plan fans could ponder over and digest I think we’d be happy to mull over it and it might shed some light on our future but right now my biggest concern is what’s happening to the squad as a whole. It’s the worse squad I have seen in 25 years.
Please please please someone ex-fookin-plain to me why we’ve let a forward go out on loan when Hugills fooked and bring a centre half in !!?. This is were a dedicated footballing brain CEO or director of football can be hands on and oversee decisions like this.
It’s early November, he’s not had a club since July, he’s had no pre season and he’s 33 and he’s a defender when we’ve one fully fit forward at the club right now.
It’s like having a bald front tyre on your car so you change the back one instead.
To Maloney, I’m all ears pal, I’d be very interested to hear who’s idea this one was.

Danson’s net worth is currently 1.349 billion +
In the last 12 months his net worth grew by 56 million.
So put a million quid in a bucket, and now fill another 1,348 buckets
Now explain why we are scratching around without any money to spend.
Danson is not committed to helping the Latics to be successful; period !
It’s so bleedin obvious.
He wouldn’t even notice a few missing buckets
Been saying the same for some time mate, a successful billionaire owner that won’t even put a few hundred thousand in to the club for players a new manager etc says it all.
We have gone backwards rapidly under his ownership, the attitude from the clubs hierarchy is stinking the place out, he may have successful businesses but he’s hardly making a success of Wigan Athletic, we are worse off on the playing side now than we were in admin four years ago.
When we didn’t have 2 pennies to rub together (I’m talking pre DW era now not the Chinese gang or the Bahraini bandits), we accepted that’s how it was, difficult none the less.
Now we’re owned by one of the wealthiest men in the country it’s much harder to accept. Ok we soon got the message there would be no wild spending sprees, but given the owner’s circumstances, it’s not a lot to ask for funds to be made available for a half decent forward and creative midfielder. At least give us a chance to progress from the division (upwards) and above all else, play some attractive football.
