Coyle wants the players to change their mindset of perpetual underdogs. Then send them out with two forwards, Owen!
It’s reasonable to play one up at Wembley against Manchester United, but we’re in the Championship now. Barnsley just escaped relegation. Bournemouth and Doncaster were in League One last season. Our reserves beat Bournemouth away in the Cup!
Holt needs far better service and support than he got in the first half on Tuesday. The second half was much better. Holt had Fortune for support, and Maloney and Beausejour linked well on the left wing. It’s a pity the crosses weren’t a bit better.
On Sunday, let’s carry on where we let off on Tuesday.
PS We’re short of defenders just now. If we let Dicko go, we’ll be short of forwards too. Still, we do have four goalkeepers and twelve midfield players.
23 August 2013 at 1:28 pm #119698Spot on JR. Anyone (fans and players) who thinks this season is a walkover need a wake up call.
Bournemouth showed us that we still suffer from the int’l break hangover and Donny showed us that we’re going to have to find a huge amount of energy to cope with a game every 3-4 days. Doesn’t bode well for when our Europa league campaign kicks in.
23 August 2013 at 2:50 pm #119699I agree with most of what Vince said especially that it was one hell of a game of football – really enjoyed it. And fair play to Donnie , they looked a well organised and confident team , who tried to play it around and shouldn’t finish anywhere near the bottom three.
This league is very competitive , from top to bottom , and few teams ever walk away with it. I expect us to be up near the top come the end of season but we will lose several games and we will draw many more – it’s that kind of league.
Once the window shuts and certain players know they are here for the duration ( well January at least ) and presumably we get our Prem loan players in , I expect things to settle down and we can start enjoying what should be a great season.
Premiership ?- it’s so last year. :P
24 August 2013 at 12:27 am #119718The atmosphere the other night seemed different to the premier league in that it seemed less serious and more laid back a bit like the old days -good riddance to the JCLS!!!
The effort shown was unquestionable from both sides and again I am so looking forward to next Sundays game and seeing how this new team shape up in that one.
We have our first ever European draw to look forward to next week and then another big game against a fallen star in Nottingham forest -can’t believe anyone would miss any of this at the moment regardless of the results.24 August 2013 at 2:47 am #119726I was quite pleased with the attendance the other night.
14,000 for a tuesday night game…i would think there will be around 15,000 on for sundays game
With coyles post match comments the other night, he may have been hinting about playing two up
Front this sunday..Looking forward to it again…games thick and fast is fantastic.

24 August 2013 at 9:05 pm #119774Doncaster seem to have been really unlucky today,3 up at Charlton, concede one and game gets abandoned….Donny fans must be absolutely gutted.
