….Says, for the last 2 years he has been looking for a team that plays football.
Little did he know that the team he was playing in actually played football, that was until he go hold of the ball in midfield. :ugeek:http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528, … 48,00.html
From Matlock to ManU

I care……….
because he spent two f£ckin years moaning about it, and talking his agent up, instead of playing it. Now he’s at that ‘fictitious’ big club he sought so much (bless him – be careful what you wish for Mr Schlong). The only way I would have welcomed him back was with a f£ckin Rampant Rabbit stuffed where the sun don’t shine. He had ‘made his bed’ – too many times – and got his wish in the end…… Massive club that WBA (in the great scheme of things). Now if you are talking about Richard Kingson going to Blackpool – you cannot fault him either – he too has great ambition by signing for a ‘big’ team………
………bigger than the Black Country idiots in my humble opinion.

3 September 2010 at 12:16 pm #45240“”Now it’s up to me because I’m signed as a midfielder and this is my best position”
No it isn’t Mr Scharner – never has been & never will be and that won’t change no matter how often you tell everybody

Spot on. Headless and chicken are the only two words to describe Scharner in midfield. He should check the small print in his contract as I just can’t imagine that Holloway would allow a player to be signed with an insistance that he plays in any set position.
Love to be a fly on the wall the first time he’s asked to play in defence.

3 September 2010 at 3:27 pm #45250I think he might be getting him confused with Kingson going to Blackpool!!!!
He’s bob on though in his assessment of Scharner & I’d have loved to have seen Scharner’s face when he asked his agent how many of these “big” clubs were interested in his services!!!!!
I always thought it was interesting that our 3 worst performances in the top flight over the course of a season or period of time all came when Scharner was used predominantly as a midfielder – Under Jewell in our second season up, under Chris Hutchings & last year under Bobby. Gotta be more than coincidence!!

As much as I have criticised Bruce’s style of play he was adamant that Scharner would play at centr-back and centre-back only and, if memory serves me right, that’s what happened.
3 September 2010 at 5:21 pm #45259I do find it hilarious that he was linked with Liverpool a few weeks ago
3 September 2010 at 5:50 pm #45262To be fair Swindon, you could link yourself with Liverpool but never get a trial !
3 September 2010 at 6:57 pm #45269As much as I have criticised Bruce’s style of play he was adamant that Scharner would play at centr-back and centre-back only and, if memory serves me right, that’s what happened. If I remember rightly, after taking charge, it took Bruce the Man City & Bolton games to publicly state that from then on Scharner would be used as a centre half – think he also said somet along the lines of that was the position he was playing when he tried to sign him for Brum and that was where he’d have been playing had bruce been successful in signing him
It was the first sign I saw with Bruce that he knew what he was doing. Likewise when Bobby listened to Scharner’s “I should be playing in midfield” rant a couple of games into last season that’s when I first had major doubts about Bobby’s judgement
3 September 2010 at 7:27 pm #45271Yeah, I’d agree with that, TL.
Still didn’t like the type of football we played, though ;)
3 September 2010 at 7:35 pm #45272To be fair, although he was always a centre half, he did offer some energy from midfield. Especially in his first full season (2006/07) For example when he got that double at Goodison and scored the opener at Bramall Lane.
He chipped in with the odd goal, which was vital considering we’ve never been high in goals in the top flight.
The only way his sideways (arguably backwards, although there’s already a thread on this debate) move to West Brom will be a success for him (from his point of view) is if he plays, plays in central midfield and doesn’t fall out with anyone.
With Brunt, Morrisson and Dorrans on the books, the centre midfield part of the equation looks ruled out already.

Thanks TL.
Yep, I certainly did confuse them!
Old age hasn’t been kind to me.
