Here is the picture evidence that Caldwell did not go into the tackle with 2 feet and it clearly shows that melted welly face Tevez is about to jump in with both feet. Copy and paste the link underneath.
30 March 2010 at 7:49 pm #28073the ref is no liar ,he is a cheat .
30 March 2010 at 8:00 pm #28075If the referee said he sent-off Caldwell for a two-footed tackle then that is obviously wrong. However, his (one) foot is off the ground and the studs are showing so it will be argued the tackle was dangerous and warranted a red card.
30 March 2010 at 8:11 pm #28077By that reckoning Tevez should have had two red cards
30 March 2010 at 8:17 pm #28078The point I’m making is that Caldwell’s challenge will still be deemed a red-card offence.
30 March 2010 at 8:56 pm #28081The ref was sh it. he missed two handballs by us that should have given City two penalties, and at least one foul in the box, again by us. :(
30 March 2010 at 10:36 pm #28092He should have booked Tevez as well for trying to con a penalty twice.
31 March 2010 at 12:27 am #28094Here is my ten-penneth.
Firstly, I agree totally that it was a very poor sending off. It appeared Atwell already had the red card in his hand before the challenge was made! It seemed he was just ‘itching’ to send someone off.
But we won’t appeal it, nor do I WANT us to even attempt to. Atwell will have reported the sending off as being for dangerous/serious foul play, which will probably mean a 3 match ban. If we appeal and lose (and I have no doubt we would) there would probably be another 2 games added on, meaning a FIVE game ban. And we only have 6 games left.
However a diabolical decision it was, we need to take it on the chin and just get on with the important task of getting the points to stay up, which in the process will really annoy the ‘powers that be’ that don’t want us in the Premiership. We MUST beat Portsmouth and Hull, without a doubt.
31 March 2010 at 2:47 am #28112I hardly think that a top flight ref would be ” Itching ” to send anybody off in any game ! The challenge when seen in real time looked fairly vicious and I can fully understand why a ref would reach for his red card instantly ! With the benefit of replays we saw that Caldwell actually won the ball albeit with studs raised and that I am afraid is what the F A are trying to stamp out and rightfully so ! Take it on the chin Caldwell and watch Scharner do a good job for you while your away !

Yes it hit their arm but you have got to have some form of intent or failing that arms deliberately positioned in a way that they are likely to be able to block/control the ball
personally I thought that Attwell ref’d that game well. The only “mistakes” I thought he made were missing Tevez’s 2 footed jump (although I didn’t see it at the time either) & not booking Tevez for diving (twice).
Other than that i thought he did well & didn’t bow to any pressure from the home fans for decisionsThe picture on the link shows Caldwell with his trailign leg on the ground but its the later stages of it. The TV footage I’ve seen shows that at the start of the challenge both feet are off the floor & as such its a red card.
Unless Latics can show the FA a frame by frame set of shots showing his trailing foot never left the floor then they’d be wasting their time appealing1 April 2010 at 1:06 am #28165Why do you think it makes any difference if his trailing foot left the floor? The tackle was clearly one footed, not two. If the argument is that he wasn’t in control because both feet were off the floor then any player who ever makes a sliding tackle should be sent off. From the moment a player begins to slide he has no control over his movement, the trailing foot being off the floor makes no difference in this.

Not only that but it appears that all his years as a ghoul have addled his brain.
If you’re sliding along the floor you can use your arms, hands, leg & feet to adjust & slow down your tackle however slim that might be.
If every part of you is off the ground you have no chance whatsoever of pulling out of that challenge, stopping or slowing yourself down. When judging whether a foul is worthy of just a ticking off, a yellow or a red that is exactly the sort of thing that the FA tell referess to consider – bearing that in mind I can understand why he was sent off. Another ref might have viewed it differently & might have sent Tevez off too but if they appealed the panel would slow the challenge down see he left the ground, his studs were up & then his trailing leg followed through & wrapped round Tevez, say it was a foul, it was a red card, it was a frivilous appeal & he’d have his ban increased1 April 2010 at 3:54 pm #28206Should have either booked both, sent both off or done nothing.
Still, with 10 men they weren’t worrying us until that pathetic excuse for a goalkeeper s*it out.
1 April 2010 at 5:10 pm #28212Reet Ill start off wth, It wasnt a red card. He got the ball and it wasn’t 2 footed.
Also… one of the handballs against us should have ben a penalty (the caldwell one)
We will/should appeal…And if we do… it will get rescinded.
