The fact that he got the ball is irrelevant

As far as I could see Tyldesely the only reason Tevez was caught by the trailing leg wrapping round him was because he jumped into the challenge two footed.

Tevez’s challenge was as bad, if not worse, but Caldwell would have staill brought his trailing leg round & caught him whether he was stood on one or both legs

From the moment a player begins to slide he has no control over his movement, …

Assuming that is true, which Tyldesley has opined it is not, then it is reckless and, it could be argued, a red card offence

So you are saying every mis-timed slide tackle is a red card? Of course you have control when you slide, granted not as much, but you have some. You have control over your legs still, whether you want to take them off the ground, pull them out of the challenge etc. The fact that Caldwell got the ball means it is not a red card, and in fact, probably shouldn’t have been a red card even if he missed the ball as it was not 2 footed.
