This weekend sees the end of the regular season, and by Monday evening we will know which 24 teams will be in the Championship.
From a selfish point of view, which of the 4 clubs would we be happier facing next season – Villa or Derby, Charlton or Sunderland?
For me, I’d rather have Villa & Sunderland. Not only will both fill the North Stand and give us some cash, but we have a decent record against them.
24 May 2019 at 12:26 pm #178949Hope Derby best Villa, cant stand em. Hope Sunderland do it, quite like the Mackams and Grigg will be playing so not too many worries there.
24 May 2019 at 1:02 pm #178951I’d prefer Villa just to stop all the media self flagulation about Frank Lampard’s Derby County – plus they’re all a bunch of drivers pestering the ref all game
I’d prefer Charlton to come up as, living in Surrey, I’d be hopeful of making that one and it’d be a ground to tick off my 92 list as I’ve never been there before.
Plus it’d be one in the eye for all these “big club” sections of the Sunderland support24 May 2019 at 2:02 pm #178952I’d prefer Villa just to stop all the media self flagulation about Frank Lampard’s Derby County – plus they’re all a bunch of drivers pestering the ref all game

Living in Nuneaton for over 20 years I quickly learned how universally hated they were by fans of the other Midlands clubs. Wolves v Albion is supposedly the great rivalry but talk to the older WBA fan and they will tell you its Villa they despise. Blues obviously hate them with a passion as do Cov fans. Its same as up here in the North West you either support Utd or loathe them.
24 May 2019 at 2:04 pm #178953Work with a Villa fan who thinks they are the best team in the history of football (he referred to them as the best attacking side in the Championship last week) so for me Derby.
24 May 2019 at 6:19 pm #178954Charlton for me I know it’s a ball ache to get to but a weekend stopping in Greenwich Village on the lash sounds good but it will probably be a mid week game and throw a spanner in the works.

When you bought him from Brentford, questions were asked as to why clubs who got promoted to the Championship on the back of Grigg’s goals suddenly stopped playing him.
We should have kept Maja and his 1 goal in 2 games ratio, even if it meant him leaving on a free this summer. If we had, we’d have been automatically promoted.
25 May 2019 at 12:02 pm #178961Grigg has scored goals for everyone in league 1 except sunderland. Looks like you got our luck with strikers mutt

Maybe if we hadn’t signed Vaughan, Gibson, Macca etc we would have been in the Play-offs. Nobody has crystal balls in football but if Charlton do beat Sunderland then they must be a good side at breaking defences down as Sunderland despite their poor win ratio have been a difficult side to beat. Possibly penalties? Difference it makes to Latics is 4500 at 30 quid compared to 900 at 20 quid.25 May 2019 at 12:57 pm #178963My choice of Play Off winners would be –Derby County
