Both should have said it like this;-
“I’m just nipping to the shop were those Chinese people serve authentic food from China”.
And
“Aren’t those people from the middle east with rather large noses and little hats very stringent with their money ??”get a grip you fool he has apologized ,,,end of, , , , you’ll get over it , take some ibrophen

There’s only one fool here, if you don’t get why most people it’s unacceptable language to use in this day and age.

Half the newspapers have his mobile on speed dial so the club cannot control what he says to them and when, I’m afraid.
You’re right, though. He just about got way with it at the initial press conference. If he’d cut and run then, we may have had half a chance.
I was berated by some on here a while back for saying that Whelan’s main motivation for continuing with his investment in Wigan Athletic was his ego and because it gave him a unique opportunity to get his face on the camera and name in the papers on a daily basis.
This, I conclude, proves exactly that theory.
So saying that some Jewish people are tight fisted is racist ? the same comment that has, still and will be the butt of alot of old jokes for generations to come.
It’s the same type of joke used regarding Irish been thick. So are we to ban all the “Paddy” jokes ?.
I was speaking with a friends Dad this morning (he’s 80’odd) an orthodox jew regarding Whelans comments. He chuckled and agreed with Whelan’s comment saying he’s not far off the mark as he (himself) is as tight as a sharks backside at a 100 fathoms.So is this guy racist ????

But he is using language that is deemed to be racist by society. So you can;’tsay it. The fact that the whole of the internet and the media has gone into meltdown tells you that. It matters not that you or I or Whelan think it’s OK and just a bit of laugh, the general perception outside of 1970s Wigan is that it’s not acceptable. And he should be mindful of that, at the very least publicly.
Edit: Sorry, I thought you were asking if Whelan was racist. To be clear, I didn’t even see the link to the YouTube clip and I can’t view it where I am.

We yet again see with cup winners replys that some people who post on here are completely ignorant to the current zero tolerance policies most organisations have in place today regarding racism and the harmful publicity this can create if breached. Not for one minute do I believe Mr Whelan has a racist bone in his body nor that his intended message was anything but a genuine attempt to diffuse a press feeding frenzy.As I found with my own mother before she passed away was that as she aged she would say things that are unacceptable today but with no intent to offend anyone whatsoever .ie she was hospitalised for quite a while and had nothing but praise for as she called them “blacky doctors”.Its a different arena now and I strongly feel that all this could have been averted if Mr Whelan had allowed our chief exec to handle this situation as the media circus is far more intensive than Mr Whelan seems to be able to handle.
