Just a sobering thought…since 1996-7 the lowest number of points accumulated by a relegated team third from the bottom of the Championship is 42. This has been done on three occasions – 2005-6 (Crewe ) 2006-7 Southend PNE 2010-2011. The highest is Peterborough United in 2012-13 when they amassed 54. Discuss……..
54 PTS is the target then, but under the form created by the tactics and selection policy of Uwe, that is a big ask, so we shall have to hope that we can make it to safety this year with between 42 – 54 pts but even that is going to be a hard slog and may require a Martinesque change in the old stubbornness gene.
