there were a few latics fans stood on the steps between the seats near me. After the stewards had waided in heavy handed and been sent packing back where they came from, the police decided to come and try. Most of the latics fans had found a seat by this point but there was one lad who hadn’t moved. The police then decided that they should jump on him and one threw a punch right in his face while the rest held him on the floor. This caused a bit of a brawl and the poor lad was dragged by his feet down the concrete steps hitting every one on the way down. There was no need for this heavy handed approach and definately no need for the punch. Good win though :) :)
12 February 2012 at 10:54 pm #81212Never understood why people just don’t sit in the seat that it says on their ticket. Wouldn’t have all this hassled then.

Wouldn’t have all this hassled then.Would be nice to be able to pick your seat when getting your tickets, not much to ask for really. I hate being in the corner looking down the touchline and when I got seat No. 37, was told that it was about level with 18 yard box, hi aw reet!.
I generally stay in my allocated seat and did on this occasion knowing it was a near sell out in the lower tier. A gang of lads who were stood in front of me disappeared at half time and obviously changed seats.
The fans decided to stand throughout the game and luckily when these fans had gone I climbed onto the row in front thus avoiding the 6 fee 8″ geezer who was obstructing my view of the goals.
I fully agree that you should sit in your allocated seat, with the emphasis on “sit”, especially when there are kids who invariably can see fek aw for 90 mins having paid good money to watch the game.From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!13 February 2012 at 12:01 am #81221I agree, you should sit in your seat. But why pick on the Tics fans when the Bowton lot, to our right, were stood up all match. A few chaps in front of me asked Plod why they were not being told to sit down also; to which they got go answer. So it’s one rule for one and another for the others.
Why don’t the stewards at the DW make the away fans sit down ????

Not saying they weren’t. But if everyone sits where they are supposed to sit, there wouldn’t be an issue at all. You don’t sit where you want at home games, why do it away?
13 February 2012 at 3:48 am #81231Solution… Play that classic James hit over the PA prior to kick off and everyone sits down ! Simple !

Wouldn’t have all this hassled then.We are ok with the DW you can sit for the whole 90 mins and see every kick because of the stadiums design.Some grounds however I do and have had issues.The Emirates we were put in the corner quadrant halfway up and everytime the ball went down the line we couldnt see a thing and everyone stood to a man like a Mexican wave going down the line.Villa Park lower Holte End,now this is behind the goals so shouldnt be an issue but because the terrace is low and gradual if the guy in front of you is over 5 foot you cannot see a thing so again everyone stands same with the other end behind the goals.Ive found this at a few so called modern stadia as most of you will have.It usually seems to occur in the larger stadiums with big capacities.

it wasn’t really the standing up that was an issue;
the source of the problem on saturday was that some people did not sit in (or stand in the location of) their allocated seat;
some late arrivals found that their seat was already occupied but on the whole the people who ended up standing in the aisles did so because they wanted to;
there were (at least) 2,000 seats and 2,000 supporters – if everyone had gone to the row letter and seat number printed on their ticket then the ‘standing in the aisles’ thing would simply not have happened;
poor by the stewards but also poor by the supporters13 February 2012 at 11:26 pm #81288Never understood why people just don’t sit in the seat that it says on their ticket. Wouldn’t have all this hassled then.

14 February 2012 at 12:00 am #81290When one of the flares hit my son and another landed at my feet I remember thinking oh I hope the stewards and police aren’t too harsh on the young chaps who threw them.
And then when I saw one of the young chaps at the back waving a flare around and then lash it 10 rows down into a tightly packed lower tier of Latics fans, only to be approached by the police and stewards, and then for a large group of other young chaps to fight with the police and stewards to prevent his apprehension, I recall thinking as the bully boy police and stewards eventually dragged him out I really hope they are just going to sit him down and have a little chat to him.
Well played Latics I think. It’s quite difficult taking in the game when you are trying to stop your kin being injured.
14 February 2012 at 12:24 am #81298i have yet to sit in my allocated seat at any home or away game yet , me and my 7 year old mate find the perfect spot at every ground we visit , its not rocket science ,

So when do you turn 7 like your mate? :blink: ….and should you not have a parent or guardian with you at all these games you watch from your perfect location?
