YES :) or NO :( I want to say yes he should go , i do think that in the last transfer window in the Prem if he`d bought 1 or 2 defenders in that window when he knew the problems we had at the back we`d still be in the Premiership and now everyone knows how long we`ve needed a striker and now with days left still nothing but its a NO from me better the devil you know BIG DAVE FOR PM .
28 August 2014 at 11:17 pm #133199has much as whelan as done, things are starting to go backwards so for me its time for change

28 August 2014 at 11:37 pm #133201Go where??????? Fickle comes to mind. If you think it’s bad at Wigan how do you think Leeds fans feel?????? Let’s get big Bill Kenyon back, he could sell the ground and we could finally be Skem town fc. No wonder this site is going down the pan.

29 August 2014 at 12:20 am #133205Not unless he can find a suitable person with tens of millions burning a hole in his pocket.
Even then I would want him to hang around to see that everything was above board and run correctly.
What ever you think of him personally, we wouldn’t have had the fantastic 20 years we have had, and possibly may not even had a club at all to support. An OBE and a large bronze statue outside the Stadium are in order as far as I am concerned.
29 August 2014 at 12:27 am #133206its the way he does business, getting players for feck all and selling them on for a profit, or we can have phil gartside and end up 65 million in debt, you decide?
29 August 2014 at 12:47 am #133210Hardly a queue of would be replacement owners is there?
If Dave really needs to get shut, he could always sell up to his mate Eric Pollard

Melvin Leatherbarrow is looking for a new venture, seeing that the other two members of John Martin Sound have gone solo and Goose Green Labour Club has downsized. :woohoo:

29 August 2014 at 1:15 am #133213NO HE SHOULD STAY!!!
Not meaning to be rude, I just feel very strongly that the club is in a better state than it would be if he left.
29 August 2014 at 1:38 am #133215No where would we be with out him would we don’t want someone in charge who would do a Portsmouth
29 August 2014 at 7:03 am #133218If it wasn’t for the main man we wouldn’t have had the ride we’ve had resulting in the FA Cup, Europe and eight years in the PL. Were in the championship not the Evo stick league which is where we would’ve been if it weren’t for his Whelanness.
29 August 2014 at 12:06 pm #133219He is almsot 78!! The reality is that he will go sooner or later and I would imagine that succession has been in his mind for some time.
Who is interested in buying Latics?
Some foreign investors were interested a few years ago, but Whelan didn’t want to sell to them.
They might bring immediate money, but they also bring a very uncertain future.
Look around at comparable clubs. There are some successes, but some failures and few foreign investors have proven themselves for the long haul.Gone are the days where a local business person can buy a club in Premiership or Championship and put it the necessary investment.
So I believe succession will come from within Whelan’s links already.
Money will not be available as it was before and we’ll live within our means.
For me the key to that is the new academy and youth development.
Give it 10 years of boom and bust of the other clubs around us and I believe we’ll still be in a good position and have a club to follow at a decent level.29 August 2014 at 12:27 pm #133222There is a little known Cockney Latic by-law which states that if your thread/poll/poll-with-no-voting-options gets absolutely no-one agreeing with you (except Bickymon, whose opinion doesn’t count) you have to close your account immediately.
“You are the weakest link, Grumpy – goodbye!”
