If that slimy bastard gets his greasy scheming paws on the stadium that’s me done. I will never set foot in any ground owned by the scum bag cnuts. Fuck the EFL
5 December 2020 at 11:07 am #190163Dont get this obsession with the stadium. It loses £1m a year. Let the goons have it.
Plenty clubs don’t own their stadium these dags because it’s a noose round most clubs necks. Leeds United don’t. Huddersfield Town don’t. Wigan Athletic never have done.
If Pollard does buy it then he still needs to give Latics a favourable lease otherwise the council won’t let him buy it (isnt the council leader a latics fan?) like they supposedly havent with the spanish.
Rather than our owners look for a spare million quid that might mean they dont invest as muvh into the club, let the goons worry about it and pay to relay the pitch every 6 months.
As for not going just because we dont own the sstadium. Grow up mate. Im a saints and latics fan and i couldnt give a fuck if the goons own it or not.
5 December 2020 at 11:13 am #190165As a rugby fan I don’t want IL to buy it unless he has a way to cover the losses.
I presume the rugby club wouldn’t own the stadium but they rely heavily on his investment so we can’t have him giving 1m a year to the stadium because it will impact on the club eventually.
5 December 2020 at 11:17 am #190168We need to keep the stadium and manage it better
The rugby pay 10% of match day gate receipts, pennies.
Charge more rent to the rugby
Concerts live acts
We need to think outside the box more.
For one we are not a high profile club and once the grounds gone that’s it we are left with a training ground and alot of players all set to leave in the summer anyway.By losing stadium means we are worthless in value and 10 time easier to fold.
So
This is Frampton and Rowlands big chance to come from the behind the bush and less of the
“I’m still shaking Boss!!”
Its simple,

If your worth £600million then that could be done in a day unless the cupboards packed to the hilt with skeletons5 December 2020 at 12:16 pm #190173Dont get this obsession with the stadium. It loses £1m a year.
Ian leneghan & his consortium probably have enough money between them to cover the loss on the stadium, but he’s a smarter businessman than the clowns that have run the Latics for the past few years, and he’s a smarter businessman than the bullshitters and fantasists that are feigning interest in buying WAFC at the moment.
If the DW was run properly, then it wouldnt lose money. The only reason it hasnt made money is because Whelan was so obsessed with the money associated with premier league football, that every other revenue avenue was ignored. Once that gravy train dried up and he fucked off into the sunset, the losses became a factor and the lack of forward planning for the stadium became apparent. The chinese only knew what uncle dave told them, so they wouldnt realise that the stadium could generate far more than it has done.
Get it flogged to someone who can make it a going concern. Get a fair rent for both sporting clubs, instead of just one, get international rugby played there, get concerts on there, get challenge cup semi finals played there. Worried about the pitch? Then stop using the stadium for reserve games and games like the EFL trophy where no fucker bothers to turn up anyway and use the Robin Park arena.
It just needs someone with a hard-nosed business brain and the DW would be a good investment.
5 December 2020 at 12:25 pm #190174We can only hope now one of these so called bidders is genuine and buy the club and stadium.
5 December 2020 at 12:43 pm #190176The problem with Lenegan is that he stupidly put a bid in for the stadium and this destroyed the little trust the Latics fans had in him.You can see what he has done to the Robin Park arena to know what the DW will look like if he gets his hands on it.
5 December 2020 at 12:44 pm #190177Its time for the guys mouthing it off in the wings to come forward yesterday and put an offer in.
Admin need to end exclusivity with the Spanish and re-open the sale for any new bids. These are desperate times and desperate measures are needed.
Its looking like we will go down, there’s not enough time to sell the club then do business in the Jan window. Although we’re trying hard were not good enough to stop up.5 December 2020 at 12:54 pm #190178Its time for the guys mouthing it off in the wings to come forward yesterday and put an offer in.

I don’t think this is entirely true to be honest. I think some tic’s fans have jumped all over the fact that he did make a bid thinking it was all Warriors based. A lot has been said on forums and twitter but nobody knows the ins and outs of it all. It’s all guesswork. We know for a fact he made a bid for the stadium. We know for a fact the Americans wanted the club and not the stadium. These guy’s with all the money are well informed and well connected in one way or another so it’s easy to guess that the two are intrinsically linked to one another. My view is that in order for the American takeover to happen somebody had to take the stadium on. Who else was going to do this other than Leneghan? I know he made a statement saying he would like to save the club or something like that, but i think that is what he meant – The stadium situation. I don’t think he was ever wanting to buy the club or in fact had the resources to but you can see if what i say is true why he would say what he did because it would have saved the club. Latics would be owned by the yanks and Leneghan would have the stadium, not the rugby, Leneghan. The stadium loses money so how Leneghan thinks he could make it work is his business. Nobody really knows but i think everyone has made 2+2 and come up with 5. Latics being in administration seems to have given more ammo for Rugby bashing where the real enemy is the Admins who have leeched the club for everything (nothing) they have got. They have played every ace card they possibly can and are making money every day. You don’t get rich by being courteous and doing what is the best by people. The Rich are usually bastards who screw everyone else for what they can. Whatever happens, we need a buyer and bloody fast.

A state of the art facility?

A good idea in essence mutty, but those games have to be played at the first teams stadium sadly.

The DW is already a state of the art facility ,just needs sprucing up a bit.In blue red and white. Not just red and white.
5 December 2020 at 2:53 pm #190183I’m sure he would do that.
To his credit, IL has always championed how a successful WAFC is good for the town so I have no concerns about him “shafting us”
5 December 2020 at 2:59 pm #190184I hope so Egg .If both clubs are treated as equals I have absolutely no issues.
