Spanish spinmaster ?
19 September 2009 at 8:56 pm #9170One of the positives is that we won’t be playing away at Arsenal every week.
And an Arsenal team that , in it’s last 2 prem games had it’s a**e kicked by Man U & Man C. Whoever they played today , outside the top 5/6 , was going to cop for it.
SMB – glass still half full. :D

No youre right, a nice easy game v Chelsea next. Well, im starting to wonder now, can Martinez manage in the Premiership. I have seen nothing and heard nothing from him that suggests he can. Giving Martinez time will either be a good decision or a disaster, personally im thinking the latter.
19 September 2009 at 9:49 pm #9183So you didn’t see the opening day anhialation of Aston Villa, having the upper hand against Everton for 85 minutes (were very unlucky to lose), kept with and could have got something from Manchester United for 55 minutes.
God only knows how we lost to Wolves and we blanked West Ham out of the game at the DW, plus won it.
What haven’t you not seen?????
As for hearing something, what do you think you should hear?????
Were still only a point behind were I thought we’d be at this stage. I’ll worry more if we don’t start getting points from Pompey, Burnley, Stoke, Brum, Bolton, Hull and such.
SAS, glass still half full20 September 2009 at 2:59 am #9206Anonymous
Obviousley not
20 September 2009 at 3:12 am #9209Agree with silence and the shadows thoughts except for his comment “God only knows how we lost to Wolves” – we were terrible and deserved to be docked three points that night.
I will be giving Martinez my 100 % support. If we end up in the Championship – so what – I’d rather have took the gamble and lost than limped along for the next few seasons.
Up the footballing revolution.
viva espania. :(
o’ and we need to play two up front.

SAS, glass still half fulldont get carried away with the villa result -they missed some sitters even though we deserved to win,
against wolves they missed 3 glorious chances before they scored and should have had a penalty in the second half-we were awful,
blackpool was a disgrace
united missed a panful before they scored then we just gave up
everton,i think that you have been listening to martinez’s spin on that,we were awful, having said that everton were as well!west ham
we had 2 shots that day – they missed 3 free headers from set pieces and hit the post-and lets not talk about the back passes to kirkland that could of gone in,apart from all that it was the worst game of football for a long time at the JJB/DW, that was martinez’s beautiful football some on here have been raving about –
just like today we were terrible in all those games-poor players and poor tactics, the defence is a pale shadow of last season, the midfield is slow and lethargic and the attack is non exsistant.
i am sorry but give me steve bruce and his long ball stuff any day if that is what the present incumbents are dishing up.20 September 2009 at 4:46 am #9220So you didn’t see the opening day anhialation of Aston Villa, having the upper hand against Everton for 85 minutes (were very unlucky to lose), kept with and could have got something from Manchester United for 55 minutes.

I may be pissed but this post is so true ! we are going to struggle more than we have so far in Prem because the squad is quite simply not good enough ! These are plain simple facts ! Either accept it or spout your rose tinted glasses rubbish saying that wait till then and wait till that ! It is serious relegation stuff so wake up an smell the coffee !20 September 2009 at 1:31 pm #9237So you didn’t see the opening day anhialation of Aston Villa, having the upper hand against Everton for 85 minutes (were very unlucky to lose), kept with and could have got something from Manchester United for 55 minutes.

20 September 2009 at 1:56 pm #9240Come on lads what did you all expect? Us to thrash them 4-0? We’ve always lost to the big 4 (or occasionally drawn) whoever our manager has been, so don’t have a go at bobby for this one. We will always be second best when we play the likes of Arsenal. Fact. It’s the games against Hull, Burnley, Portsmouth, Bolton etc that we will be looking to win. If we get thrashed by them, then yes moan all you like. But don’t complain about a 4-0 defeat to Arsenal because lets be honest, did you expect anything better?
Come on lads, give the gaffer time. Impatience is a sin in football, look at Newcastle for example. But teams like Everton have given David Moyes time and now a finishing in the top 6 every season. Success never comes instantly and it’s time some of you on here realised that.
Just my opinion.
20 September 2009 at 2:32 pm #9243Patience ? This is our 5th season in the Prem and the squad is now worse than the one we came up with ! In order to succeed in this division you have to build and improve your squad and this quite plainly is not happening ! It really is that simple :geek:
20 September 2009 at 2:46 pm #9245Patience in the manager my friend. He’s only been here 5 minutes. It’s the same after every defeat, moan moan moan. Is this really going to get us anywhere?
And no, this squad is better than the team we came up with trust me. We overachieved that season without doubt. We had alot of championship players eg, Mahon, Francis, Jackson, Connolly etc.
This season we don’t really have any championship players besides Marlon King and Jason Scotland.

I think we should take a look at the Portsmouth fans yesterday never stopped singing and chanting all the way through the match against Villa and have not got a point to show for it .
