Powell and macca subbed at ht, injuries or tactical?
No sign of roger, is he injured or does rosler not fancy him either?23 December 2013 at 8:44 pm #125257Two managers can’t be wrong. Old roger is just not up to it for me, he’s rubbish.
23 December 2013 at 9:50 pm #125262If he does’nt get games under his belt?we will never know.
23 December 2013 at 9:56 pm #125265Roberto gave him a decent run in the side and he didn’t show much quality IMO. Easier for a manager not to play someone they have not bought.

I think he earned all his popularity at the height of the hatred of Gomez because he ran about a lot like a headless chicken. Never really produced much. Three managers now seem not to fancy him. Must say something.
23 December 2013 at 10:55 pm #125270With Watson missing Boxing Day we will find out if he truly rates him, alternative would be Gomez or possibly perch?
29 December 2013 at 10:41 pm #125359Well, old Roger eventually got on the field of play today if not only for a short while. Got to say he played as i expected, with no composure!
Couldn’t work out if the applause for Gomez going off was genuine or because he was actually being taken off? Would rather have Gomez on the field over Roger, regardless of what most people think of him, he can pick out some pretty decent passes every now and again.Just out of curiosity, did anybody else notice today that when Nick Powell jumps for a header he does so about 5 seconds too early. Not his strong point!
29 December 2013 at 10:45 pm #125360That is a bit harsh on Roger IMHO. He comes on with 5 or so minutes to go and has to try and impose himself on the game.
I will judge him when playing from the start and when he does that, he has won his fair share of MOM’S, Maribo being the last one. :cheer:
From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!29 December 2013 at 10:58 pm #125363I hope he proves me wrong JR. Didn’t see Maribor so can’t comment, but he played a few games under Bob and his performances all seem to be the same. That said, thought he played well in the cup final, probably his best so far for me.
29 December 2013 at 11:10 pm #125364Some folk are beyond clueless. Our midfield lacked composure all afternoon. Mccann, Macarthur and Maclean all blazed over or made the wrong decision when in the final third. Still. Lets find a way of attacking a lad who played for 8 minutes, worked his stones off and made some decent passes. Unbelievable.
29 December 2013 at 11:17 pm #125366Well said that Roy’Agree.
29 December 2013 at 11:26 pm #125369I thought the applause for Jordi was genuine as he was by far our most industrious midfielder.
In my view he ran Ramis and Barnett close for the MOM award, and was also my MOM on Boxing Day although he only played 45 minutes.29 December 2013 at 11:35 pm #125372I thought the applause for Jordi was genuine as he was by far our most industrious midfielder.

29 December 2013 at 11:44 pm #125373Personally I would have brought on McClean, McManaman and Holt for Crainey, Perch and Fortune at staged throughout the 2nd half.
Burnley offered nothing whatsoever going forward and were even less inclined to go forward as the game wore on, so the the defensive qualities of Perch and Crainey were not really needed.30 December 2013 at 12:04 am #125375Bob – spot on. The only midfielder (Gomez) who looked capable (as versus Brum’) of unlocking the Burnley defence. Notice how the likes of Ramis etc. continually sought him out today ….
Don’t understand UR substitutions : Gomez – our only creative midfielder off – Roger ‘headless’ Expinoza on ??? As for McClean (Fortune) .. well..(flatters to deceive)!
Half-time : For me, McCann ought to have been off, Callum Mc put up front, alongside Fortune (subbed for Holt – 65/70 mins.), with Nick Powell dropping back to central midfield (pushing forward); Second half very poor today – wouldn’t have scored in a month of Sundays – January transfer window – ‘mobile’ striker, plus decent midfielder.
