Which team will suffer the most ?
I think that we will bounce back to beat Burton. They then have to play Colchester A, Gillingham H, Doncaster A. Two very tough games in amongst those three matches. Thus I think Burton could slump and be overtaken by Walsall. As for the Latics, it will be roller coaster stuff but we will do enough to get up !
18 April 2016 at 12:48 am #148153We will beat Burton, Draw with Sarthend, lose at Blackpool and draw with Barnsley. So we may make automatic with that, just.

Our recent form against relegation threatened teams isn’t very good so maybe we should have expected dropped points yesterday? Good thing is we seem to do better against the better teams, so fingers crossed we will get something at Burton.
Perkins suspension is a bit of a worry, will be interesting to see the line up on Tuesday.18 April 2016 at 4:36 am #148157Well it will be the usual way of picking the team. McAlaney guaranteed then draw straws for the rest.
18 April 2016 at 11:54 pm #148167Im confident of a tight 2 – 1 win at burton followed by a tighter & edgier 1 – 0 win over southend.
19 April 2016 at 4:07 am #148170Hope so Mr Runcorn.
19 April 2016 at 10:58 am #148172Bloody hell Donny. Your glass empty enough?
9 points from 12, piece of cake. We were always going to drop points somewhere luckily it happened when we have a cushion and it’ll keep us grounded enough to get the wins we need.
19 April 2016 at 11:20 am #148176If Walsall hadn’t got that alleged phantom goal last Saturday we wouldn’t be having this conversation.
My prediction
Latics 87 points.
Burton 83 points
Walsall 82 pointsrest assured the lads will be up for this one tonight and having watched Burton a few times I just can’t see them being able to deal with our attacking threat if we are on it tonight.
Don’t forget Walsall have to make up 3 points plus the extra advantage earned through goal difference so no time to panic just yet.19 April 2016 at 11:27 am #148177If Walsall hadn’t got that alleged phantom goal last Saturday we wouldn’t be having this conversation.

I think we’ll get a win tonight and Saturday which should hopefully be enough but if not then I can see us taking Blackpool apart.
19 April 2016 at 11:31 am #148178According to my calculations if we beat Burton then the position will be
Wigan 83
Burton 77,
Walsall 77 (giving them the win in the game in hand)
Bradford 74Roll on then to Saturday, and assuming Burton win and Walsall beat Bradford (the most threatening result for us) then we have with two games to go
Burton on 80
Walsall 80
and Bradford out of the running on 74So if we then win on Saturday at home to Southend that will push us to 86. With our goal difference BOTH Burton and Walsall cannot catch us (barring some sort of huge match fixing scandal), even if we lose both to Blackpool and Barnsley.
A win tonight will make promotion pretty well assured. A win in any of our last three games would be enough (or even three draws!), and that is with Burton and Walsall winning all as well.
19 April 2016 at 12:14 pm #148182Having seen the goals from the other day, (set pieces & a penalty), the first two could have been avoided if defended properly. Whether the penalty could have been avoided – probably not – meaning a draw would have been the result.
But i do believe saturdays result might be a good kick up the backside, & hence, a close win tonight.19 April 2016 at 2:09 pm #148187When you look at Doncaster’s recent results and who they have played then all this ‘They are fighting for their lives’ is a load of bollocks! We should have won that game, especially having taken the lead! I know I commented on some folk getting too used to being unbeaten but when you weigh up the situation it was bad form on our part and let’s hope that it doesn’t ruin our automatic promotion chances! I’ll be happy with a draw tonight!
19 April 2016 at 2:23 pm #14819186 is the key number for me too. 2 wins from the next 4 would mean Walsall having to win 4 from 5 to draw level and we have the goal difference.
Personally I think we’ll draw tonight and get at least 2 wins from the last 3. I really don’t care if we win the league either just as long as we get out of this division.
20 April 2016 at 2:06 am #148202A great night really still 6 clear ( 7 if you add the goal difference point) and actually could do it almost on Saturday if we win and certain results go our way
odds checker have deleted Latics from the promotion list and I reckon the fat lady is clearing her throat now .20 April 2016 at 2:17 am #148204A win on Saturday coupled with Walsall losing at Bradford and its in the bag but I want us to take the title so six points still required. C,Mon Wigan.
