I can’t see Burton losing at Colchester but I couldn’t see us losing at Donny.

4 points will do us I reckon.

It’s the Wigan way, we always make things difficult for ourselves, I like everyone’s belief about the Southend game and 3 points Phil Brown sets his teams up well I see a draw Blackpool we know we’re crap against the bottom teams i’ll go for game abandoned and 3 points Barnsley a loss as they’ll be up for it to make the play offs thank good we’ve got points on the table next season we won’t have a chance stay happy.

Well we do seem to have inherited some of them jitters and Saturday won’t be easy, going off last nights performance.
Still pretty confident we’ll go up as all the others seem to have the same jitters.. We will need to strengthen for next season, defence and some decent cover / support for Grigg.

We will piss promotion to the Premier League in the next couple of seasons. Jewell did it with ease but these days we play much better football than in Paul’s era so Championship a piece of piss.

A positive post Donny, or has someone hacked your account

Not sure I’d agree with that one though, thought Jewells team was much better & stronger.

I suggest that you’d better do it next season, otherwise you will be competing against three relegated clubs with some serious financial clout and a very big advantage over the rest of the league.

On top of the minimum £100m earned for being in the premier league next year, their parachute payments will be 55% of whatever the parachute payment lump sum is, and bearing in mind the current figure is £64m, then it’ll probably be close to £100m over three years.

That will dwarf the £9.6m you get next season, when yours runs out. £9.6m goes a long way to “smashing” League One, but it will be swallowed up in the 2nd tier when you are competing against clubs who get 30,000+ every week.

Unlikely as it may seem, I’m growing to like you, but I think you’re wrong here.

The amounts are irrelevant. It’s what you do with it. So so many clubs have found that throwing money at “big name” players on “big name” wages does not provide success.

I think (genuinely) we will do well. Maybe not walk it, maybe it’ll take a few seasons, but I’m not bothered about other clubs having loadsamoney.

I’ll take any compliment going from you lot! ;-)

There’s a reason why the premier league has been won by the 4 richest clubs all bar one season so far, (and that was when Jack Walker bought it for Blackburn), and sadly I see the fight to get into the greed league becoming even more difficult come 2017/18.

The amounts being banded around are eye-watering, and as long as clubs insert relegation clauses into contracts at all levels, then the clubs that finish 18th, 19th & 20th will come into the championship with a minimum £155 million to kick-start their promotion campaign. I agree with you about throwing money and big name wages – Villa & Newcastle will be in deep poo next year if they don’t bounce back, and on a lesser scale, you had to flog a lot of last years squad because of their salaries.

It won’t be long before we have a prem 1 & 2, why else would they spread the money like they are. If you get relegated in pretty good shape like Sunderland & Norwich could do, then you have every chance of coming straight back up. If on the other hand you don’t, then you will struggle just like we did.
Be interesting to see how Villa get on over the next Couple of seasons!

And don’t forget Jimmy probably the main reason we are looking like we will bounce back to The Championship this season is because of The Premier League parachute payments. Without the budget we have had this year we may not even have been looking at an automatic promotion place.

                      #148292

Can we get promoted first before we talk about the Championship/ Prem?. Talk about tempting providence. B)

Didn’t Blackpool have exactly the same parachute payments???. Stop being negative mon, its not about the money, its what you do with it that counts. Ask the QPR fans.

Our Mr Sharpe, Mr Jackson and Mr Caldwell, have done a superb job and touch wood, will achieve what they say they would achieve barring a fall at the last fence. Lets leave money out of this, it bugs me to death when pundits, other managers, other fans harp on about it, its seems ten times worse when it’s coming from our own fans.
