I think he’s realised he’s behind Naismith in the pecking order. What’ll he do when Naismith ousts him from the Scotland team as well?
Anyway it creates more space on our treatment table for another Cook crock

Or MLS ?, it starts the end of Feb. This might force Blackburn to let him go rather than sit it out with us
16 January 2020 at 1:20 am #184049He was on a season long loan, his contract ends with Blackburn 31/05/2020 so he could comfortably sit it out with us then move were ever in the summer.Seems strange to be trying to force a move if he is out of contract at end of seasonArticle says he’s got 18 months left on his contract, so it will expire in summer 2021.

Regardless, he can’t leave Blackburn in the Jan window while he’s at Wigan. No doubt he’s off abroad and the MLS looks favourite.
I know one thing, Blackburn ain’t best pleased so they’ll be keen to offload him abroad
Or
Hes just about had enough at Wigan and he thinks anywere is better than here16 January 2020 at 1:58 pm #184057Wigan can force a permanent move though which goes against what you said. Rovers don’t want him on their books and now they have him

16 January 2020 at 5:52 pm #184069Calamity Cook probably soured his potential permanent move.
16 January 2020 at 6:49 pm #184070He didn’t look a patch on Naismith
16 January 2020 at 8:48 pm #184074Mowbrays version of events:
https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2020/january/boss-explains-mulgrews-return/
16 January 2020 at 9:24 pm #184076As I suspected he’d have enough of us. Something happened for him to want out. Probably playing second fiddle to a winger doesn’t help
16 January 2020 at 9:34 pm #184077Club website posts positive report about club shocker.
Mowbray says he wants to play every week but he isn’t going to play him, which he knew, so he hasn’t gone back for that.
I suspect that regardless of how well Naismith has done, of Mulgrew was match fit he would have played.
Seems a strange one and I suspect that only Charlie Mulgrew (and possibly his agent) know the reasons behind it.
16 January 2020 at 10:03 pm #184078Think it speaks volumes about our plight when going back with nearly zero chance of game time is more appealing than staying.
17 January 2020 at 12:34 am #184085Mulgrew interview doesn’t read well…..sounds like he was very unhappy and glad to be back at Rovers irrespective of getting a game.
17 January 2020 at 2:18 am #184087It’s awful news. An almost 34 year old, injury prone hasbeen who couldn’t get a game for Blackburn or us has left the club to go back to a club he still can’t get a game with. Gutted.
17 January 2020 at 3:36 am #184088I suspect that regardless of how well Naismith has done, of Mulgrew was match fit he would have played. But are we defending well with Naismith and Kipre ?. We’ve kept 1 clean sheet since the end of October.
To me its football were you think “Were playing well here we just need to……..?, when in truth the “we just need to….” is never going to happen.
The Royles are quite content to report back that we are so close to getting it right, “stick with him” when I fact were probably closer to getting it oh so wrong. Once we get to 8pts adrift that’s it it’s over and the powers that be can only blame themselves for standing there and letting it happen.
Cook should have gone 2 months ago to give us a chance, that boats sailed for me -
