Sorry I’ve not been in long enough to read through the posts…
So much possession and yet we grasp “victory” from the jaws of defeat.
2 things I noted today…Joel Robles…amazing delivery…that throw to the half way line to Figgy… 2nd Mcarthy just isn’t good enough for the PL…gives the ball away so many times its scary.
This possession play is all very well but we’re not Brazil…we should have won today by a country mile…why haven’t we?
Just got back from game .very tough .can’t believe all the bad press on here.we weren’t at the races for spells but hey a good point.good banter with us tics fans.
Figz arse must still be sore from the pummeling Townsend gave it.
Kone was unusually absent.
Gomez’s passing was awful giving the ball away a number of times.
Still there were plenty of positives to take from this game and I think if Zamora hadn’t been sent off it would of been an easy win.
Not using it as an excuse but once they put 9 men behind the ball and tried to hit us on the break via Townsend they caused us far more problems than when they had 11 men on the pitch.
No positive spin from Martinez to give anyone on here ammo he was deservedly unhappy and according to Maloney expressed that at half time.
And he does it EVERY match too. He is a really good goal keeper. His defensive awarness is good and his distribution is just awesome. He is a real find by Bob, Half a million quid! sign him up.
Gomez,Di Santo and McManaman are competing for one place upfront really.
That’s right. The Everton game was a cup tie, and Martinez was happy to give a starting place to Gomez and McManaman. The team gave a terrific performance and Martinez decided to keep that starting line-up.
Perhaps he wanted to increase the strength of the first team squad. Or work on a new formation. Or show his confidence in Gomez and McManaman. Or give McArthur and Di Santo a rest. Or something completely different.
On the field, the starting line-up hasn’t been a great success. The pattern of the games has been consistent – McManaman has been withdrawn halfway through the second half, and vital goals have followed. We have been very lucky to emerge with seven points from three games.
Although no great damage has been done in the league, it has left us in a tricky situation just before the semi final. I hope McArthur and Di Santo return against Millwall, and that the team produces a more convincing performance.
The line-up against City will depend upon how well they all play at Wembley.
