I imagine that quite a few regular season ticket holders will be thinking the same way as myself:
I have faith in Shaun Maloney & the players.
I have major reservations about the ownership and their intentions for the future. What honest words can you say that will convince me to spend my hard earned money on a new season ticket ?
We just want honesty and direction, along with ambition.Wigan Athletic is not a “play thing” for the rich & wealthy, it is a lifelong institution for the working class from the North of England. Whilst you maybe the owners, you are only the custodians of a legacy that must be preserved and not destroyed or discarded without regard for the culture & history of a very special club. In fact we are metaphorically one of the biggest, if not the biggest, small football clubs in the whole World !!!
Have a heart !

You’re a Latics fan.
30 April 2023 at 7:37 pm #199454Latics blood flows through my veins !
I’d happily give them Bahrain guys a transfusion.
That’s the difference !30 April 2023 at 8:07 pm #199455How about a few words of consolation to fans and supporters after your antics this season that got us relegated as well Talal.
1 May 2023 at 11:06 am #199462Hang on a sec, we could be in a far far worse situation without the current owners like going to Daisy Hill. They took on a sinking ship and basically got us promotion so things aren’t as bad as some would like to paint.
At least they’ve realised running a club is nothing like running a business. There’s alot more can go wrong running a club rather than a fianual business as such so it doesn’t surprise me we got caught out with the likes of Captain thrithfull Mr Brannigan who when all said and done created the money mess so on that note I can’t thank them enough. My issue is, if you make mistakes rectify them. In our case the current owners think the answer to clear the decks and slash the outgoing by 2 thirds leaving virtually pennies for Maloney which is a recipe for disaster.
We will have to rely on youth but bar 2 or 3 good young lads our current crop isn’t as good as the lads we let go for pittance while in administration.
I personally think Maloney is going to seriously struggle next season. We need 15 players minimum all on super low wages and freebie signings, I just don’t feel Maloney has the experience to do this. I hope I’m oh so wrong but only time will tell on that one.So for me the issue I have with the owners is, they know they’ve fcuked up and held their hands up which I respect but a 2nd year of little or no investment in the squad will only end up one way.
As in life if you fcuk up you put it right you don’t make it worse. Next season is going to be I think the most challenging season we’ve had we’ve ever had and that includes admin.
Let’s not attack the owners even though they’ve made mistakes granted. Were in a far more stable position than alot of clubs who are 10’s of millions in debet and getting bigger.
If we start attacking them I’m sure they’d think “Fcuk this, we don’t need the hassle” then we’re will we be.1 May 2023 at 11:41 am #199464Hang on a sec, we could be in a far far worse situation without the current owners like going to Daisy Hill.

I think thats the sticking point amongst the fans, too many fuck ups, these lot don’t learn from their mistakes maybe arrogance is the word.
We all appreciate that the owners saved us but how long do we have to harp on about it? Too many mistakes in a short space in time have made the fans angry including me, an apology isn’t good enough, as Talal likes to remind us “actions speak louder than words” over to you Talal.
Edit….I personally will never forgive these owners for the 3 point deduction that got us relegated.
Fuck the EFL
1 May 2023 at 2:43 pm #199466I do agree with almost all the complaints about our owners, team selections and general cock ups, but, I’ll definitely be renewing my season ticket. The team will need all the support it can get next season.
And at the end of the day, Latics will always be my sunshine.

100% Agree ,can’t imagine not having Latics to watch. We have to give them as much support as we can next season.
1 May 2023 at 3:05 pm #199468They got it right in most ppl’s eyes when they first arrived by winning L1 as I was gladly reminded of.
I was one that said we fell over the line losing quite a few near the end of that season but for me the cracks were appearing.
I’ve previously made my point regarding the owners, new to football they were horribly mislead by Brannigan which surfaced last summer hence Richardson got nothing to spend who’s tongue in cheek TV interview remark about needing 20 odd players had a serious undertone to it, he already knew there was nothing.I’m not defending them certainly not, but their utter naivety and their total belief in Branningans bullsh1t has put us in this position.
They believed in a guy who would suggest you to sell caviar from a burger van when they should have kept an eye on the money tabs.If rumours are correct that Robinson will be leaving Fulham it will be interesting to see were that £4-£5 million we’ll get goes to
Youth or squad
Or pay off debts
Now that will be the telling moment. Like I said before, the answer is not to slash the budget with no players the answer is to rectify your managerial and boardman costly mistakes. Wipe those debts off themselves and simply put them down to a bad day in the office then give Maloney a decent budget that he will need to rebuild not coppers from a jar.1 May 2023 at 3:39 pm #199471Renewed ours Friday . feel all the emotions of everyone .. nobody is 100% right .. it s because we love the Club that these things are said .. we’ve not been shafted as before .. we can’t be the only Club where xxxx has happened .. must be loads of other Clubs where things are waiting to emerge [ from below the surface ]. Would compare us to being on the ‘ Big one ‘ ! YES IT’S A CRAP SITUATION . but , after those Chinese Bxxxxxxx the only rhetoric was ‘ let s have a Club to support ‘ . ..the world isn t exactly an easy place currently ..financially ! Relegation by several ‘ cuts ‘ .. a miriad of errors on and off the pitch ..there will be a brutal ‘ cull ‘ .I’ll drive that prick Fletcher , free of charge , in my Taxi back to Watford RIGHT NOW !! SIGNING OFF . COULD GO ON FOR AGES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1 May 2023 at 4:25 pm #199474We all love the club but if the owners carry on the way they are currently operating which is massive trust & mistakes and no investment no money then there won’t be a club to love
1 May 2023 at 4:47 pm #199475The moot point was that we cant all agree . BUT because we care for the Club , we comment ! The future isn t ours to control, financially or otherwise ….very few of the current squad i’d retain btw !
1 May 2023 at 5:14 pm #199476I’d actually keep a lot of the squad if contracts a wages fit into our budget. At League 1 level they could still be better than the replacements that we’ll struggle to get.
I’m not his biggest fan but I’d even keep Darikwa, if only for the short term.We do have some young talent coming through but I don’t know if they can fill all the gaps if we have a mass clear out.
1 May 2023 at 5:29 pm #199477Neither am I .. understatement or what .!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1 May 2023 at 5:41 pm #199479The majority will be gone. Jamie Jones Shinnie Scully Bennett Tilt Cousins Humphrys will all be gone. Then will Jordan Jones move on? Same goes for Tom Pearce (be sold 1 year left) and I don’t think we can afford to keep McClean.
To slash a wage bill to a third of its original to start with budget will push the club to its limits. We will still have a few decent earners the like of Wyke and Magennis on v.g. money which is going to be a huge drain especially Wyke who currently offers nothing.
Then there’s question marks like, can we afford to offer anywere near what Power Keane Darikwa are currently on.I don’t know but imagine it’s you at work, you get offered a new 12-18 months on a 3rd of what your on ?, I don’t think that’s gonna happen that’s unless no one wants them.
The only two I would fight to keep but there’s no way we could afford them is Rekik and Sinani after that I’d send the rest back.
Like I said, Maloney’s got a similar job to what Martinez had. The biggest difference is, Martinez was giving some money not a lot granted but something’s better than nothing.
If Maloney gets this one right he needs putting up there with the best managers ever at the club, I pray he can
