When did we stop using the badge that is now the badge of the worriers, the old ancient and loyal badge?
Reason i ask is i picked up a suit jacket yesterday from my local hospice shop and it has the old ancent and loyal badge and around it wigan athletic afc, i’ve never seen us use this badge so am assuming its rather old.
Anyone any ideas, or even if its worth out…you never know!
4 November 2009 at 5:17 pm #12026I have heard that we used that badge for a while but cant find any records of it although this might help, Not old enough myself
4 November 2009 at 5:19 pm #12027Any chance of putting a picture on here of it?
This could be the holy-grail of all Latics memorabilia!
‘The lost cup-final jacket of Micky Worswick’. It’s long been talked about but considered to be a myth by many. 1973 FA Trophy final.
Questions:
What colour is it? What size? is there a makers label?
Stopped using that badge in 70’s, I think.
You could have a very rare piece of memorabilia there. I’d buy it on ebay.

4 November 2009 at 5:23 pm #12029why are none of the kits sponsered by port petrolium on the list.
(I am only 23 and THINK a vaguely remember my dad strutting bowt in a shirt sponsered by PP, am a wrong?) Think we had a red, blue, white and maybe a yellow one. Can someone either confirm or correct me.4 November 2009 at 5:26 pm #12031Just searched for it and it says 1960-1961 shirt.
4 November 2009 at 5:28 pm #12032Link doesn’t seem to work for me scoffy.
4 November 2009 at 5:30 pm #12034Port Petroleum NEVER sponsored the shirts.
They DID have the logo on Junior Latics strips, and managing director John James was a regular match sponsor in the 80’s early 90’s.
