Did well but scoreboard didnt read wigan ponfull of chances-Chelsea 2.Kone needs to start as Di Santo will never score the goals our play deserves.I thought Chelsea once in front were never really tested and cruised through rest of the game.Saints game will be interesting as they did well yesterday.
We agreed that once 2-0 up Chelsea took their foot off the gas and pretty much cruised the remaining 83 or so minutes ! Their back line dealt with what we had to offer with consummate ease bar the Di Santo chance ( Bad first touch ) and the Gomez free header ( No comment ! ) It was heartening to see us going forward though and creating chances but we really do need someone who can bring all the effort to fruition ! Hopefully Ramis will improve and learn from his baptism of fire into the EPL but if the frailties we witnessed yesterday remain 5 games in then he must be dispensed with sharpish !
– but people are talking about Ramis’ inexperience at PL level being his undoing in those first minutes.
He has been defending against Messi, Ronaldo, Lloriente, Iniesta etc etc etc. Hazard isn’t the best he’s played against.
By saying this I’m actually supporting the lad. He is quite up to PL pace etc. He just had a bad few minutes.
He’ll be reet.
Exactly…Hazard isn’t the best (why the surprise….).
Committed himself for first goal (partly at fault).
Done on several occasions for pace (not just a few bad minutes), Hazard, Torres, Oscar …
Poor challenge in penalty area for 2nd (Figueroa did little to help..)
highlighted risk of a ‘steady’, right-footed centre back, playing left hand-side and up against pace (Valencia, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Walcott, Sinclair, Dyer, Moses (?), etc. in the months to come). Figueroa – when he’s at the races – provides more pace and balance on left hand side. Good combination with Beausejour.
Hopefully, Ramis will be reet. Suffice to say, he’s got a way to go and it may well be in different position to one taken yesterday, if Chelsea is anything to go by.
There are no escaping the first 2 goals , but over the other 80 minutes he had a decent game.
There was not enough of an attacking threat from Chelsea to make any judgements on his defensive abilities at this time but I thought his distribution of the ball was excellent.
Once he’s defended, what’s he supposed to do then? Wait for a midfielder to come and take the ball from his feet?
Defend and distribute.
He had a bad start in those early minutes. Everyone’s agreed. But hopefully he’ll put that behind him, as long as he’s allowed to by people who are ready to string him up as a failure, and move on to be a great assett.

Totally disagree with that statement, Di Santo was one on one with the keeper and ballsed up,Kone headed wide from 3 yards out, Gomez shot wide with the goal at his mercy and then his overhead kick when unchallenged. That’s at least 4 times Chelsea “were tested” after they had gone 2-0 up. ;)
