Rangers through and through…..
your right there edinburgh -typical rangers -no dress sense at all, why middle age men wear those 3/4 pants beggars belief – no wonder the riot squad are trying to snatch him -what i cant understand is why the lads with him are trying to stop it – they should bring flogging back for that offence.
4 September 2010 at 3:33 am #45323theres a mini bus of rangers fans that comes down to the dw to watch the mighty tics regually they adopted the tics as there team good set of blokesAbsolutely sure there’s a lot of good blokes among them – just as actually there are a fair number of fine Bolton and Man U fans. On holiday a few years ago met some smashing Millwall lads.
But… overall…..en masse……

4 September 2010 at 4:53 am #45333My mate is a celtic fan and he is a prized idiot……does that make all celtic fans idiot?Landgate, Rangers fans are generally not idiots, and in the most part, are decent people. I will stick my neck out here at the risk of serious abuse and admit I have been away with Rangers in Europe for several years, and have seen nothing but good behaviour on a vast majority of those trips.
There were problems with the police in Osasuna, and they were slated in Barcelona – down to the mess they made of the city, as there were no instances of violence. In Manchester you didn’t just have Rangers fans, you had the Protestant population of Scotland.
Celtic fans may slate them, but who would you side with? Someone in a blue shirt singing ‘God Save The Queen’, or a bloke dressed in green singing pro-IRA songs?
4 September 2010 at 4:41 pm #45365Does concern me a bit that they are coming to Wigan, which is quite a catholic area. (Isn’t it?)
As for this talk of them having big screens at the stadium….
what? So it can ruin the pitch? Which in turn would give everybody even MORE ammunition to throw at us? And besides, what is the point of them all coming down to Wigan to watch it on a screen? Have the screen at Ibrox.
Or are GMP looking to make some money out of this?

Absolute hogwash, Rangers fans have been continually punished by the Uefa governing body, not only for their secterian chanting but fighting and violence at most European away games, cumulating with the embarassing scenes witnessed in Manchester.
Feel free to browse the Internet for such Hunnery Foolery in Europe !
6 September 2010 at 1:02 pm #45527Celtic brought over 80,000 fans to Seville in 2003 and they got an award from UEFA for being well be haved and Rangers fans went to manchester a year or 2 ago for the UEFA Cup final and wrecked manchester?
6 September 2010 at 1:49 pm #45530I know I was there for that game, Chalk and Cheese I think the phrase is.
Got mugged whilst out there by some local hoodlams the night after the game.
7 September 2010 at 1:13 am #45596Edinburgh, as you and Donnelly have correctly pointed out, the behaviour of Celtic fans is usually exemplary, however, when you have had English colleagues subjected to IRA songs and threats by supposedly British people, then it takes a little bit of the shine off the press-proclaimed best behaved supporters from Britain.
This isn’t an Old Firm debate, as I’m well aware we’d never agree on that subject, and compared to Celtic, Rangers are very poor ambassadors for Scottish football. Manchester was shocking, but aside from that, they are a lot better that most English football abroad. Virtually every English team to have played in Europe has been involved in clashes with locals or police on at least one of their trips.
During the UEFA Cup Final season, up until Manchester, there were no other incidents of note involving Rangers fans.
7 September 2010 at 2:31 am #45604Cant see there being many places open on a Tuesday night.A Rangers supporting mate e-mailed me earlier asking where they might get “refreshments” once they get back. All i could come up with is the Moon, open till midnight, and Boulevard, open till 1am. I would think everywhere else will be shut by the time they get back here cos i would think they’ll get held in their seats for half an hour after the game.
I know all the staff at Boulevard and they will more than likely do something to stop them going in I think. When I go in on a tuesday (or any midweek day) .. I stay til like 4am if I like with Zoggy!! .. So if they do get in they could end up there til later.

Rangers were charged against some Romanian outfit that season, with a pensioner getting charged I believe.

They didn’t play in Romania during that compaign. On another note, I was at Hampden last night as a neutral – first time I’ve been there, and I must say the atmopshere outside and inside the ground absolutely knocked spots off Wembley.
9 September 2010 at 12:32 pm #45804Have to say I’ve only been to Hampden once (for the Euro qualifying play off between England & Scotland when Keegan was in charge) and I thought the atmosphere was really poor
You always hear alot about the Hampden Roar but it was more like a squeek when I wentThat changed a bit outside afterwards mind!!!
I should also point out that the worst atmosphere I’ve ever experienced at a football ground was at the 2 England internationals I watched at Wembley – never again

It was genuinely a good atmosphere TL, especially prior to the game. I think they thought it was going to be a walk-over, so there were bagpipes everywhere round the ground, and generally a good vibe about the place.
The team were booed off at halftime, but other than that, there was a lot of humour about the place, and some very vocal Aberdeen fans who didn’t stop singing for a second throughout the game. I missed the Liechtenstein goal as. I’m ashamed to say, I was still in the midst of half time prawn sandwiches.
Yes, they booed Liechtenstein’s national anthem, but it was expected and a lot of the people I was sitting with were embarrassed about it and apologised. I said it was fine as England fans boo everyone’s national anthem.
The Scotland goalkeeper (Griff, can you remind me of his name?) was booed every time he touched the ball, but again, England players are never booed are they? -
