Accringtons odds went from 10-1 to 1-6 before kick off according to websites. Somebody must have pinched a few quid on that!
8 November 2017 at 10:08 am #163148Horc marrer you have it nailed. It showed Accrington Stanley and Wigan fans total disrespect. Promotion is obviously the priority but surely if you want to rest the first team its the fringe players that need game time not the kids.
8 November 2017 at 11:40 am #163149Im ecstatic that we are out of the nonsense conpetition.
8 November 2017 at 12:43 pm #163150Well Vat that’s the first time I have ever known a fellow fan to be overjoyed that our club have lost and are out of a competition. Mind-blowing that one!!!
8 November 2017 at 1:16 pm #163151Im ecstatic that we are out of the nonsense conpetition.Chuffed to fcuk for you marrer, let me know what its like to revel in a defeat coz in almost 50 years being a fan I’ve never experienced it.
8 November 2017 at 1:43 pm #163152Can’t believe people are moaning promotion is the main one end of and hopefully a nice little CUP run and also the team was announced an hour before kick off so the moaners still add a choice to go or not I’m made up that we are out crap comp crap CUP.
8 November 2017 at 2:07 pm #163153I personally think it’s a meaningless cup but would I go to the final if we got there? Now there’s a question! We’ve won it twice ( Not two times! Hate that song! ) and took quite a few fans to Wembley on each occasion and so another couple of questions. Did any of you haters of this cup go to the finals? Would you have gone had we got to the final this season?
The answer to my question….Probably not but could have been persuaded with the right plans in place to make an affordable weekend of it. In other words, an excuse for a piss up in London!8 November 2017 at 2:15 pm #163154Can’t believe people are moaning promotion is the main one end of and hopefully a nice little CUP run and also the team was announced an hour before kick off so the moaners still add a choice to go or not I’m made up that we are out crap comp crap CUP.It wasn’t crap on the 2 previous times we won it. We also had more chance of getting to Wembley in it than we do in the FA Cup. The first time im happy we go out of a competition is the time ill stop supporting my beloved club.
8 November 2017 at 2:18 pm #163155Think we can get fined for that can’t we?Well we don’t get fined enough.
8 November 2017 at 2:40 pm #163156A few of the rules concerning starting line ups ….
Each EFL Club must play its ‘Full Available Strength’ in and during all matches.
Full Available Strength means EFL clubs must include at least four qualifying players in the ten outfield players named in their starting XI.
The four qualifying players must either (a) start the preceding fixture (b) start the fixture immediately after (c) be in the top ten of appearance makers for the club so far that season (d) have made forty or more first team starting appearances in their career to date.8 November 2017 at 2:48 pm #163157A few of the rules concerning starting line ups ….Each EFL Club must play its ‘Full Available Strength’ in and during all matches.

None Of The Above.
8 November 2017 at 3:15 pm #163158They’ve turned the competition into a joke but I still wanted to win it.
8 November 2017 at 3:31 pm #163161I was kind of hoping for a day out at wembley like we came close to a couple of seasons ago. I dont want to appear as over cautious, but i hope we are not putting all of our eggs into the one basket.
8 November 2017 at 4:47 pm #163162Thought bubble:
“Team are second in the league…nope, can’t use that one….
Team are playing attractive football…nope, can’t use that one…
The manager is liked by all the fans…nope, can’t use that one….
Tickets last night were £10 for adults and £1 for kids….nope, can’t use that one…
We played the kids and lost in a meaningless, and resource draining cup….that’ll do…”Can’t believe they did that to us loyal fans. We deserve a refund..blah blah…
Get a grip! I’m sure some of you dig deep to try and find something to have a whinge about!
We’re having a great season, but it’s a long season, and we’ve thrown a match that had we won, we’d have had to play yet more energy sapping matches where the gate receipts probably don’t even cover the operational costs, and where we run the risk of injuring first team squad players against a big and physical Accrington team.
Those young lads, although they lost, got a rare chance to play as the first team, at the DW, against grownup opposition, and in front of a crowd. They know full well they’ve played against a better team than they’ve played against before, and the experience will do them a world of good.
Obviously I’d have liked us to win, but I can fully understand why the team that was fielded was fielded.
Also, I enjoyed seeing how the young lads fared against grownup opposition, and although Accrington were clearly bigger, older and stronger, I thought some of our young players looked very skilful and comfortable on the ball.
Come May when we win promotion, will you all still be whinging about this game and asking for a refund then?
8 November 2017 at 5:22 pm #163163I think his title of refund was just an expression of disgust and disbelief.
Personally I think many fringe players need some match time. Hunt Roberts Bruce Power Perkins to name a few. This would have benefited the squad and enhanced our chances of glory in May. Also it’s just an opinion I feel the other youngsters may have got a confidence boosting win and would have benefited more than they did last night. -
