Jacobs Power Grigg didn’t start and we missed them last week so who knows what will happen against a non league club. Mickey Mouse or not I just can’t believe it how fans could be pleased to see us loose. It’s unthinkable. Get a run of injuries and it worries me that players we have to replace regulars don’t get match practice. Tuesday was ideal for quite a few of these and another round or two could have helped further. Maybe players don’t need to play anymore.
It’s not moaning it’s called being a supporter who doesn’t want to see their side lose.
Also the day Colin Methven lifted that trophy was the proudest day of my Latics life up to then. Why why why do some fans want to belittle the competition I just can’t understand.
We aren’t in the Big league anymore. That is our FA Cup these days.The competition has devalued itself IMO by adding reserve sides and the stupid penalty shootout at the end of a league match. It’s just become a testing ground for the FA to try out their latest ridiculous idea to fix a problem where there isn’t one.
Yes I wanted to win it, but I would put promotion, winning the league and a good FA Cup run for some revenue (it matters at this level but doesn’t in the Prem) as bigger priorities.
Final word on the matter:
Yes, it’s all about winning; but it is unrealistic to expect to win every game in the season ( that was last achieved in 1880 by the Invincibles, aka Preston North End ). Thus it’s about getting sufficient win percentages to achieve your objectives for the season, and if Paul Cooks delivers sufficient wins to gain us promotion and a money spinning run in the FA CUP, then he will please the vast majority of our true supporters. I actually trust Paul Cook’s judgement in how he will actually steer the club to meet these objectives; so at this point in the season I have no complaints.
Furthermore, I’ve lost count the number of times I heard our fans say that given a choice they would have chosen to win the FA CUP over staying in the Premier league ( including Donny :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: ). Surely this reinforces the acceptance that you can’t win every game and therefore you do need to focus on the games that really do matter to the club and the majority of the supporters, and of course meeting the seasons objectives.
So quit moaning and enjoy the season :evil: :evil: :evil:
Every game matters but what he did the other night was just wrong and with no game tomorrow it made it all the more ridiculous. Playing games could only improve the chances of glory in May. Face it the likes of Roberts Perkins Hunt Bruce Power etc need matches under their belt. It just made it all the more idiotic a decision not playing these men against Accy. We would still probably have struggled but it would have made a bit of sense.
But Donny, you also keep reminding us that there is no longer a proper league or game structure that our reserve teams can benefit from; so there you go, a “proper game” to field our young hopefuls.
Now I hear you say, “ah but that game will have demoralised them”; but I say “I bet you a pound to a pinch of shit that everyone of those youngsters was buzzin, regardless of the result and is now eager for more”
So think positive “young man” and look at the whole picture, not just one game.
P.S is there a bar on tomorrow neet or is it BYO ?
