looking at the reports today online, Rodallega has said that Everton, Arsenal, Seville and others are tracking his progress?
any ideas if you think he will stay? Martinez said yesterday that hes thinks we will keep him.
i would hate to see him go, him and al habsi were the only players that seemed to really give it their all last year and genuinely really cared about the club.

I suppose that’s why I love this board; everyone has an opinion……
…..bullsh1te or otherwise.
10 July 2011 at 3:17 pm #68443I would let him go in an instant. He is a woeful striker. Misses open goals for fun, No pace and no versatility. He is a self-proclaimed superstar and in my opinion a tosh striker. I would be very surprised if those clubs were indeed interested, Spanish ones maybe but i think this is his way of trying to get himself a move. Another Match Of The Day wonderboy. We need a foorward with pace and a good touch, Thats it for me, The way we play that would be how to link up midfield-winger-strikers

IMO Hugo would get at least 15 goals a season in a good side who played him with a strike partner.
11 July 2011 at 3:45 pm #68460I find it ironic a lot of people spend vast amounts of time on this web site hounding strikers who dont score, see Jason Scotland for further details, and then when we get a striker who does score for us we want rid. !
11 July 2011 at 4:24 pm #68461lets look at it though, the games we played sammon and rodallega upfront we looked really good moving forward, i think we would be stupid to get rid of him
11 July 2011 at 5:10 pm #68463He is not good enough for the job Martinez want’s his striker to do. Just like Boselli he has no strength or pace. What is the point in having a lone striker who can’t do either or manage to shoot on target. He either needs to sign a striker who can do the things a lone striker needs to do or change the style and put two up front or we will struggle yet again. It will be another barren season in the goals department again if things are not changed up front.
This is not having a pop by the way so don’t go slating me for daring to air a view.

Rodallega is the best striker we’ve had since we got in the Premiership, fact.
Can believe some berks are having a pop at him. Course he has faults but hes playing for a side battling relegation and scores around 10 goals a season, if he was THAT good he wouldnt be playing for us.
Be thankful that we have a striker who can score 10+ goals, because if Hugo left who in the current crop would take his place??? And who is out there to replace him??
12 July 2011 at 12:00 pm #68484I disagree with Yosser in that i really rate Rodallega but I also agree with him in one crucial aspect:
Rodallega hasn’t got, & never will have, the attributes to be able to play the front man role that Bobby’s system needs (nor for that matter do I ever think he’ll be able to play that left wing role that Bobby devised for him).
He’s a centre forward that needs someone alongside him to do the donkey work. Bobby himself has said it in the past & its somet he intimated at when he was talking about the Copa America & how good Rodallega looks alongside Colombia’s other forward.
He keeps taking Rodallega out of the lone striker role & is then forced to put him back in coz all the other strikers he has bought have been complete pig swill & its a key failing of Bobby’s that he doesn’t seem to be able to see the type of forward needed to make his system work at this level. That said the early signs with Sammon are promising although I think Rodallega is the better player – its like Kevin Davies at Bolton. There are far better centre forwards out there than him but he is suited to that role at Bolton down to a teeI think with a lone striker with the ability to run all day, chase down lost causes, put pressure on the opposition defence when they have the ball, the ability to win the ball in the air & hold it up to bring others into play (its not much to ask is it!! ;) )latics would look far more of an attacking threat than they do at the moment
