“I would love that Wigan fans recognise my effort when I leave the club in May.”
Well – three months to achieve that then

I picked up on that particular quote, too. Sadly, along with most of the rest of the squad, many of us already have recognised the amount of effort they have put in, and it isn’t good.
5 February 2012 at 8:03 pm #80565Is there any point in keep playing him now? Its not working anyway so why not give his spot to someone who will be with us come August and who knows it may just work.He could have at least just kept quiet, talk about kicking you when your down.
5 February 2012 at 8:14 pm #80566You’d only play him if there was a benefit to the team and I’d say there’s far more benefit in giving someone like McManaman a game, who hasn’t already decided he’s going to waltz off in the summer.

Hugo told Wigan before the January window he wanted to leave, QPR bid £4m for him and we turned it down so who’s fault is it Hugo is still here???
5 February 2012 at 9:36 pm #80569Other reports suggested he priced himself out of talks and was happy to wait until summer. None of us know anything but it’s safe to say he won’t fire enough goals to save us if we don’t lock it up at the back.

It’s actually quite refreshing that the club refused the easy option of taking the money without having a replacement lined up beforehand.
Rodallega’s best chance of getting a decent contract anywhere else lies in playing well here for the next 4 months and banging some goals in for a change.

Would be great Griff if he did but he could just as easy do the opposite and not bother.I just worry that he may become a passenger and like Old Wolf says will it be any benefit to us.Bobby will surely have to monitor the situation.

Hopefully it will have the same effect as it had on Charlie, he was outstanding in our final run in.

Agreed, but at least now we have the same (low) number of (poor) strikers we had before the transfer window rather than having one option less.
Bickymon must wonder what to do with his keyboard; Whelan passing up the oportunity of an easy £4m to keep another striking option on the books. Yep, money-mad, that owd twat, is he not?
5 February 2012 at 11:49 pm #80584Have you not considered that nobody made a concrete offer for rodallega or one that was worth enough.
5 February 2012 at 11:58 pm #80586To be honest I would have cashed in on Hugo rather than let him go for nowt in the summer. We won’t stay up and have lost £4m which the club can ill afford.

Where do you get that from? Financially we are very sound.
6 February 2012 at 12:26 am #80591He didn’t go because no one would meet his wage demands, the guy has a high opinion of himself, one which obviously not many others agree with. If QPR offered 4 million, and would have met his personal terms he would have gone, no doubt about it.
What he’s done now is almost guarantee a higher weekly wage from next season, because wherever he goes won’t have a signing on fee to pay, that will be figured into his deal.
I don’t rate him any better than the likes of jermaine beckford, in fact for 2.5 million I’d have had him here in a shot and got rid of that over rated lazy two hat. -
