No egg, play to win them both. Don’t chuck the cards in before the game.
15 August 2018 at 1:48 am #171109Doesn’t happen anymore Donny. Far too much money in the league now that the cups are dead.
I hate losing myself but given the choice of tonight or Saturday, I know which I would choose. Had it been The FA Cup then it may have been different.

I’m sure PC would view it exactly the same mate.
15 August 2018 at 2:00 am #171111He clearly has done rightly or wrongly. I doubt we will see so many changes when FA Cup 3rd round day rolls around.
15 August 2018 at 2:02 am #171112Well obviously he did by chucking the towel in.
Admittedly it is the least important competition although reaching the final of it was one of our greatest achievements.
Now we treat the competition like a training run out. Pre-season was for that.15 August 2018 at 2:03 am #171113Roll on Saturday, I wonder what the attendance will be after two defeats, any ideas Mr Egg?
15 August 2018 at 2:07 am #171114I’m fuckin sick to death of this . League is more important and I’m not bothered about losing this. Well I’m fookin bothered. FA cup run last season didn’t stop us winning the league and even though we got battered against Utd in the final it was still one of the greatest days in this clubs proud history. Not to mention confidence building that winning brings. If you count the Rangers game we have now conceded 11 goals in 4 games. 8 in 3 competitive games so please excuse me if I for one don’t celebrate our latest cup exit.

I just think fans are not as bothered as they would have been if it had been the FA Cup or league match.
There is a character on ‘Vital’ under the name of ‘Jeffs right’ who is being accused of ‘smugly celebrating a defeat’, but I’m sure he is as bothered as you about losing.
I think he feels a full strength side should be put out in every match.
I tend to agree with him on this particular point, but if the management don’t take it seriously it does tend to filter down to the fan in some cases.15 August 2018 at 2:56 am #171117Not so much even the full strength thing really. Apparently Lopez at right back and Naismith at left back. Why????

JeffDonny. If you are going to play an understrength team, the at least play kids who play regularly in the positions rather than wingers at fullbacks etc.15 August 2018 at 1:07 pm #171120Football is a business nowadays and the cups don’t give the rewards to the owners that the league does. We got more money for being relegated from the PL than we did for winning the cup.
League football has and always will be the priority and when you have the powers that be belittling the competition with experimental rule changes then what do you expect the clubs to do?
As I said, if we played a full strength side and subsequently lost on Saturday there would be plenty of fans moaning that he didn’t make changes last night.
Cookie clearly has prioritised the league and FA Cup ahead of this just as he did last season with this competition and the Checkatrade and I back his decision on that just as I did last year.
15 August 2018 at 2:02 pm #171121Defending anything in the air is a major problem that Cook has to sort asap. Once sides get wind of this we’ll see more crosses than you’d see on a day trip to the Vatican

Revenue from a league cup run is just as necessary to clubs like ours. Filmoss made a great point about the back four they should have played together if fit, we could lose Burn in January so we are going to see change . If your not taking the league cup seriously then fine but use it as a game to gel the preferred first eleven especially if your signing players on the last day of the window. Resting players for the sake of it a fortnight into the season is a piss take. We are conceding goals alarmingly and it will continue unless the defense learn how to play as a unit and that means playing together regularly in competitive games. 2 seasons ago we prioritised the league and got relegated. Throwing this game season after season is not benefiting the club in any way shape or form.

We only have four recognised centre-backs at the club with one already injured, two recognised right-backs with one injured and one left back. So why risk playing James, Dunkley and Robinson – Kipre had to play! An injury to any of those would cause big problems. -
