It is easy to judge Jewell’s approeach 10 years later and after 8 years in the Premier League.
He had a team with great momentum and that took us to 10th in the first season.
We weren’t expected to even stay up and we definitely had an inferiority complex against a well established top 4. That is why he would write off such games.A manager in surivial mode might think like Jewell and focus on taking points from relegation rivals.
A mid-table manager might take the Martinez approach. Great when it works, but it is not much good if you beat Chelsea and lose to a team in the bottom 3.
