      No.

No desire to go and watch a cup final at wembley with 40k on, if that.

I have bo interest in the competition, in all honestly. Judging by the 1100 attendance the other night, I’m not the only one.

      Thanks

You said Cook and his staff ‘had rekindled your love for the game’ you can’t be that serious.

What a load of bloody shite!

I cant get my head round some of the reasons some fans are coming out with for not going to these cup matches. At the end of the day it’s a Wigan athletic team playing a competitive match. Look at it as a good opportunity to see how well the fringe players perform and the youngsters. As it happened it was a bloody good game to watch, very competitive with two teams going for it. It was also nice to watch a no pressure game, although I did want us to win. At the end of the day it was a straight choice between Emmerdale / Coronation St and a game or footy, shall we say it was a no brainer for me.

Jr I was one of those that refused to go the other night. It might have only been a token gesture but I felt I needed to show my disdain for the way a competition designed for lower division clubs has been used to help premier league clubs who wouldn’t lift a finger to help a lower club if they were in trouble.

It’s the first time I can remember that I’ve actually chosen to miss a home match. Hopefully it’s the last but if we draw another such team later in the competition I will do the same again. I generally enjoy watching our youngsters even in pre season friendlies and I’ll be at the Accy match.

It’s a point of principle like the twentys plenty campaign. But that failed because those that talked about not paying more than 20 quid ended up doing and defeated their own campaign.

Hang on! The other night you say you showed your disdain against a competition by not bothering to go, but you will support that same competition against Accy in the near future?

            You couldn’t make it up!

Oh and JR, its Emmerdale and Eastenders Tuesday nights mate. :pinch:

Look at what I said on the Quiet Again thread and look at what I said on this one and there is no discrepancy. My protest is against under 21 teams. Not lower division teams. Accrington have a genuine right to be in the competition. Boro and others don’t. The difference between me and you is that I follow up on what I say. If I said I wasn’t going to pay more than 20 quid I wouldn’t turn around and pay more than 20 odd quid. If I said I was sending my season ticket back I would send it back if I truly believed in what I said. I said I will boycott under 21 teams. I did and I’ll carry on doing it.

We both know you can’t say you’ve stuck to what you’ve said. Weak and hypocritical.

Weak and hypocritical is boycotting a competition then supporting the same competition because you are pissed off you missed a good game and want to jump on the bandwagon again!

Or maybe you thought Boro would give us a pasting so thought you’d save a tenner.

Hands up. You’ve got me there. I just don’t want to miss out on the glory of being there on the night that we could qualify for the knockout stage of the Checkatrade.com. Maybe I could sneak in as a concession and not have to fork out a tenner. After all ten’s plenty. Isn’t It?

                    Just MY CHOICE.

Joke of a competition. If it was just league one and league 2 clubs, fair enough. But bringing Championship clubs under 23’s in was uncalled for. I really have no interest.

Only one game I’m bothered about this week, and thats tomorrow.

Oh and btw, I don’t watch any of the soaps.

But Boro under 23’s are probably as good if not better than most league 2 teams. It was a great test for the team PC played. It’s not like it was a team full of kids, there are many under 23’s playing first team football in all 4 English leagues. You need to stop focussing too much on the opposition and think about it being a competitive match involving the team you support. I couldn’t give a flying fek who we played, it’s totally irrelevant in the scheme of things. Middlesbrough u23’s or Exeter City if they run out onto the DW pitch, I want the tics to beat them and will be there to cheer um on.

Well, Ive no interest in the Mickey Mousr cup, so there we go.

Evidently, I wasnt alone in that.

That’s fine. Absolutely no problem with that.
But please, do not come back if/when we reach the final with thoughts about it.
By all means boycott the tournament. And that includes all the games, Accrington included.
I disagree with boycotts; as JR says if a Latics team are playing I’m there, I’ll never boycott them, but I fully respect your right to view things differently.
                        But please keep consistent.

I absolutely love this Mickey Mouse cup. I disagree with the academy sides being in there despite a magnificent performance by our academy side against Middlesborough.
This Mickey Mouse cup gave us two of the greatest days in our history against Brentford and Millwall and two others with the semi wins at Mansfield and Wrexham.
I hope this Spring we will change the words of a brilliant Latics song when we win it for the third time.

Perhaps we are back at a level where Mick Mouse cups do matter. Lets not get a Johnny by Bollux attitude. Its something we could win without risking any first teamers and jeopardising our assault on promotion. Anyway your loss, was a great game and gave some youngsters a chance to taste some competitive action. People moan that we don’t give the young uns a chance and the same people don’t want to go and support them. We will agree to disagree, I’ve already got my Stanley game tickets and looking forward to the match. I’ll keep those posted who choose not to attend, on the progress of the academy boys and first team fringers.

Just one point, as far as I can recall this will be the first time we will have played Accrington so work permitting ill be going. Why wouldn’t you?. My problem is late finishes in the week so struggle to get there but coz its Accy ill try extra hard.

I will be at the Crawley game next week.

I bet a lot won’t bother. But I will be there.

Incidentally, JRFATFAN, I am glad they won and glad young Victor got a goal. But no, I won’t be going to any of these games. My choice. And nothing wrong with thinking a bit bigger. Blackburn are coming today and theyve been talking about us like we are bumpkins the last week….so maybe we need to big ourselves up a bit? We need to be a bit more arrogant as a club as even when we win, like at Blackpool, the opposition give us no credit. It cheeses me off.
