Got my season ticket weeks ago but cowie is the worst ever player to play for wigan athletic before anyone says what about etc etc from years ago bur at least they had fight even if they was shite but cowie in my opinion has nothing truly awful
Don’t talk utter shite. He wasn’t even the worst in last season’s squad.
No wonder most people with any intelligence ever bothers with this site anymore.
He was one of the worst though and eventually the penny dropped with the equally shite manager and he was duly dropped! Might do ok in the 3rd Division but I wouldn’t hold my breath!
In your (highly debateable) opinion, of course ;)
As Johnny has stated, it could be circumstantial but he was pretty poor and I am not the only one who has stated that!
Maybe you’re all wrong. Maybe you’re not.
5 June 2015 at 5:59 pm #142706Cowie was highly rated by both Watford and Cardiff fans – and when he joined us he was being linked with a move to Rangers, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was trying to get him to stay at Cardiff.
10 caps for Scotland, Inverness CT player of the season and ex-Ross County captain….
I suspect there’s more to Don Cowie than most people on here give him credit for.
Maybe now we’ve stopped launching the ball over the midefield we might see a different side to him.
It could be a case of Wigan Athletic curtailing footballers promise these days! I notice you mentioned ICT o’er the border and how he was great there, well there is a certain striker who was going great guns up there until he came here! ;)
OI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Leave off ICT or you’re banned ;)
5 June 2015 at 6:08 pm #142712I actually went to the Scottish Cup Final last week, in among the ICT supporters, and I must admit thinking that Billy boy could have been out there prancing around with a cup, instead of bench-warming at a team that got relegated to the third level.
5 June 2015 at 6:09 pm #142713He didn’t even attend the game.
23 June 2015 at 1:12 pm #142892Just been on the web site and don’t worry folks theirs a lot more green seats available than grey seats sold should be buzzing this season NOT !!!
23 June 2015 at 1:26 pm #142893What a daft comment. Take the away end out and there’s 20k tickets or so to be sold.
We would have had to sell over 10k tickets for their to be more sold seats than not. When was anyone expecting that to happen?
Signings have hardly inspired have they but I’m sure there’ll be about 2k diehards at Coventry and that will do me for a start.

Exactly. If we get anywhere close to 10K season tickets we’ll have done well.

We won’t sell 6k and that’s a fact! Last week there was more people who hadn’t renewed than those who had. That includes corporate btw!
25 June 2015 at 11:01 am #142926Think it could be a case of doing well if we get close to having any crowds of 10k this season Egg. It would be surprising if we could attract ten thousand on over four occasions. Hope we can but very much doubt it and it could have been oh so different but year after year playing for 40 points in the Premier League wouldn’t have been that interesting.
25 June 2015 at 2:11 pm #142927It’s only to be expected really. Apart from a couple of exceptions I would say 6000 season tickets to be one of the highest in the division. According to a Coventry website they’ve sold 3200.
25 June 2015 at 3:55 pm #142928Even shit house Nob End struggled for crowds last season in a promotion year and with a much bigger population and catchment area than us. If we can sell six thousand seats in advance then our average gate will be at least 6k plus with the matchday ticket sales. Have a good run and hopefully some of the JCLs and big time Charlie fans will come back too.
25 June 2015 at 5:52 pm #142929In the same way as in the Prem, until we get points for our crowds I’m not arsed. Yes it would be great to sell out each week and have a huge fanbase, but we don’t. So what?
I’d rather have no fans and 3 points (fingers crossed) than be someone like Newcastle.
25 June 2015 at 8:36 pm #142932How long will it be do you reckon before the first empty stand picture in the press followed by a “back to their true level’ headline?

26 June 2015 at 1:23 am #142940That will be probably be at the Bury match but WTF they are annoying but who gives a shit, they cant take our name off the cup. They cant erase eight years in the top flight off us. They cant take away our League Cup final off us and even in our little decline they cant take our play off position off us and our appearance in the FA Cup semi finals. Stuff em because we’ll win it again, we’ll win it again The Johstones Paint Trophy we’ll win it again!!!!!
