There’s one of the problems….Grigg a great finisher and I think with right support from the flanks he can do it in this league. Trouble is if he out of form or injured then no real goalscorer. I like Garner for his nuisance value and same applies to Vaughan but goal threat ???. Powell vanished last night 2nd half and pushing him into lone striker role is pointless.I work in Blackburn so the banter with Rovers fans is endlessly around Dack or Powell ??? Powell definitely has the tools and quality but he at present doesn’t drive the team forward with the same energy or threat like Dack does for Rovers.Would I swap ???..Question certainly getting harder to answer .Powell being constantly substituted doesn’t help our cause and we certainly need him to emulate Dack and grab games by the scruff and perform. They both have an edge and are key to both teams season, Dack edges him Imo…for now at least. Would Windass be a better option ? Openly admitted he prefers that role and his best run of goals came down the middle, certainly wasted out wide.Getting the best out of Grigg has to come with supply from wide and that then becomes imperative that Macmanaman is given more game time.

If we played a midfield 3 of Evans, Morsy and Gibson then we could play Powell, Windass and Grigg as a front 3.

          Or even Gibson Powell Morsy.
          Jacobs Grigg McMannaman.
Could swap Powell for any of those three midfielders you mentioned Egg to accommodate Jacobs in the front three.
Windass will be sold in January. There is nowhere in the side to accommodate him apart from the bench with Vaughan and Garner.

Macca is the new colclough then is he? Crap player who everyone on here thinks is the next George Best.

Its amazing how we all see things differently. I think Windass is getting better by the game and will be a great asset. In Windass, Jacobs and Powell we have 3 attack minded players who can drift across the pitch and look comfortable on the ball. Its still early days in terms of getting the team shape right, whilst he does this we are picking up points nicely.
My glass is half full with less than a quarter of the season gone. We would all have taken 17 points in the first 11 games. I’m also loving the football on display compared to the last time we was in the championship. Swansea were very easy on the eye on Tuesday, as were we at times. One of the best 0-0 games ive seen in ages. You need to lighten up some of you, ask yourself were did you expect us to be after the first 11 games,? Well done Cooky and team, I am 100% behind what you do in terms of team selection, tactics, plan A and Plan B.
No rose tinted glasses to be seen UN aw!

            From Matlock to ManU
            What a journey!

Got to agree that was one of the best 0-0 draws I can remember. I enjoyed some aspects of Swansea’s game too. Some I found a tad OTT. One thing that ruined the game was the dreadful ref yet again. Truly awful.
Take the points about Windass but don’t see him as doing anything special for us and would prefer a natural right sided player taking on and beating defenders. That doesn’t mean I see either Macca or Colclough as a George Best at all. I do think we need a player like Macca though on Saturday to open the game up, get round the defenders and create chances particularly against PNE who are haemoraging goals unlike us whose goals have dried up.

When we got promoted to the championship, i expected the refs to be of a pretty decent standard. They are no better than league 1 IMO!

Preston are where they are for a reason…..Get at em from the start. .. grab an early one and watch the colour drain from them. Already their confidence shot to bits ….fast start and they’ll get persecution syndrome. Another cautious approach from us will be dangerous….longer game goes on and they’ll start believing they can get something…..and probably will.

They’ll be having a go at us Dereck. They score goals but concede.
I’m sure Cooky will have a strategy. Hope it’s one that gets us scoring again and winning away from home.
Remember these lot finished 7th last season. They’re not shit.

I’m happy with the usual team except it NEEDS to include Jacobs, Grigg, Mcmannamum, It’s just silly having them on the comfy pitch side seats.

Where has Byrne gone …. he’s due a ‘player of the season’ run out. Dunno who goes tho’.

If he picks the same side and formation on Saturday and the midfield are as static as they were tonight then we will get beat!

Pretty good prediction that one Fill and then replacing an attacking mid-fielder with a centre half when we’re losing. It’s getting all very predictable and uncomfortable too.
Biggest question is What is wrong with giving a start to Macca rather than an out of position Windass. It is not working at the moment that’s one thing we do know.
