First off .. what a garbage performance by us .. BUT … how can the standard of refereeing be , and continue to be so abysmal ?? It beggars fuckin’ belief … off the ball fouls on our players . blatant and continual time wasting , feigning ‘ injury ‘ , cosy chats with the Cheltenham players ! That cunt of a number nine should have walked for his assault on Smith . hope the twats get relegated :good:

Theres one or two players at the moment not playing well or they well over complicate it
Now tin hat goes on but Hughes. Young and learning I agree but why why why does he slow the game not to a snails pace ?. He basically puts his foot on top of the ball and stops it dead and lets the opposition set their defensive positions up, why ??.

At least Kerr when in possession either passes it early or moves himself left & right moving the opposition players in front of him left and right so he can try and look for gaps.

        Adeeko & M.Smith
Please tell me are they acting centre halfs ?. So we’re playing it out from the back and Smith and Adeeko are in a back 6 playing it out along side of Hughes and Kerr.
This means we’ve no midfield in the centre circle or abouts no one bar Assguard and Kelman and 10 Cheltenham outfield players hence the Hughes 40 yard cross field ball to the wings is our only option.

All night we were heavily outnumbered in the middle due to these 2 midfielders p!ssin around bringing it out from the back, fookin why ?.

The clues in the players position name “midfield”, ffs leave the “bringing it out from the back” to the back 2 or left n right back there’s no need for M.Smith & Adeeko to form a daisy chain holding hands with Hugh’s and Kerr.

Basically if our midfield sit so deep how the hell do we set up an attack?. You then become totally reliant on your widemen and if the opposition double up on them (which Cheltenham did) you can’t get service to Kelman.

        The use of subs,
Why do we always make 3-4 in one go ?, it’s because the manager never gets his starting 11 right. Tom Pearce thrown straight in on a cold evening ??. Sorry Maloney you got that 1000000% wrong. He needs to be weaned in sub bench first he was never going to be up to speed.
S.Smith needs to start, in his 10 Minutes on the pitch he got in more dangerous positions than Assguard M.Smith and Adeeko did all their combined minutes on the pitch.

So weres it going wrong ? or should I say the consistency. For me it’s not so much the players it’s how their used and the negative slow methodical boring tactics so for me the problem lies at the managers door.

I’m not a lover of Magennis but with Cheltenham’s Davis at the back it was always going to be a physical battle so why not start him?, it’s not rocket science.

There’s so much chopping and changing with the starting 11 and subs we have never a settled 11, never.

The build up play at times beggars belief. It’s as though we’re waiting teams to part like Moses parted the sea then we can waltz through unchallenged.

Again, as soon as we play sides like Cheltenham we struggle, at times physical at the back moan time waste hence when we play teams who try to play the game we do better.

One last thing, at least we have an extra days rest for Tuesday. Our season boils down to f**king up their
        season

Can’t disagree with your observations C.W.

Wish we had a “Graham Cavanagh” in midfield.
Nobody hardly got into our half when he was in midfield ! That’s when midfield used to be in and around that big circle on the pitch

If we are going to play it our from the back midfielders need to be ready to receive it then either give it back and move or try to go forward or look ahead
If your midfield sit so fcukin deep you can’t see the tops of their heads who the fcuk recieves it ?. I’m sorry Aasgaard is a good player but a luxury player.
Right now we’re missing that something different a bit of steel say Shaw back just a bit of physicality.
I heard someone say going over the bridge:
“That Kelmans is useless” and that sums up one or two who can’t see why he struggled woods for the trees comes to mind.

For a forward to bag a few goals he needs playmakers making things happen for him, that’s something we certainly don’t have.
Haaland would have struggled against Cheltenham. I’m not sure wtf Maloney trains them to do but if it’s keep the ball at all cost he’s even getting that wrong.
The only shining light is Chambers. He was actually head and shoulders above the rest. And it’s about time Cze got more game time. At least he tries to go forward and get in those positions.

What is Maloney seeing ?? Does he not see what we all see ???. It’s the mirror image of the Martinez sides, I’m doing it my way regardless,

          God help us

What I can’t understand Lozzie Man, is this modern talk in football:

He’s playing in the hole behind the forwards: FFS our pitch is flat, unless the chubbie eggs have been on it the night before.
He’s picked up the loose ball and is recycling it: WTF is that about; these modern balls should last a lifetime.
He’s played it around the corner: WF king corner; there are no sharp bends signs; it’s a large flat rectangle of green grass.

Midfield, that might as well be in Standish or Bickershaw; because Maloney doesn’t know where it is

Most games are won and lost in the midfield area, it sets up an attack and helps the defence, right now were losing that battle in the middle and players are out of position.
M.Smith doesn’t look right to me after coming back in and although Adeeko is quick (hence why he’s in there) he loses the ball far too much.

We need our midfield to play in the middle as a unit and get the ball forward quicker. The “playing it out from the back” I understand that theory it’s done to draw teams out and open the pitch up create space but if opposing sides sit back in their half allowing us to waltz to the half way line unchallenged and we move forward like Toby Tortoise then all’s your doing is compressing 18 or so players into the opposing teams half.

Over the past few weeks we conceded a barrel load of goals from sides taking pot luck shots which have deflected in. Bad luck on our part? I guess so but we’ll never have similar luck because you have to shoot first something were scared to do from outside the box. Is that the manager wanting it played in I don’t know but we had 2 shots on target which says alot for a home side.

It’s a belt n braces style of football were playing right now, its all about building from the back, trying to draw teams out, create space in and around the back of them but sadly it ain’t working. It might work at Barcelona or City but it’s failing badly at Wigan as teams basically sit deep or high press and we revert to Hughes’s 40 yard cross field ball.

The first things I’d sort on the training pitch Monday is:-
Hughes, when in possession from the back if there’s nothing on move with the ball into space allowing the midfield our move upfield not stand at the side of you or pass it quickly no fcukin doo dallying like your have a minute,FFS if he goes any slower choosing what to do next they’ll have to prompt nudge.

DO NOT under any circumstance stop dead and put your foot on the ball while you have a butchers. If there’s nothing on move or shift the ball but keep it moving and at pace.

Midfielders ?, DO NOT when we are playing it out from the back be at the side of our defenders get in front of them ready to receive the ball. If your at the side who tf’s gonna receive it ???.
Hughes needs to shake this horrible habit of stopping dead while he scouts a pass because he’s basically killing any tempo or momentum.

All’s I can say is, up the tempo, be brave going forward, take more chances, and you can shoot from the edge of the box if it’s on, you never know

A lot of us are thinking & agree with what CW has posted this morning.
It’s not rocket science, just common sense; so why doesn’t SM agree with the majority of us?
He only needs to watch Liverpool, who play possession football; but the catalyst for success is crisp and accurate passing at tempo. I would imagine that SM would have attended the Blackpool / Bolton game, so let’s hope the penny has dropped.
