Just read that we are charging £28 for none ST holders for the Sheff Wed game, dont know if this is a good thing or not, we need to start getting some money in to the club, our fickle fans won’t pay it so it looks like we’re cashing in on away supporters.
Even though i dont agree with anything over £20 a game, we’re gonna get screwed at away games so yep go for it, some of our casuals as we call them won’t turn up at £15 a game so what the hell.
Fuck the EFL
19 July 2018 at 1:42 pm #170406£25 would of been better imo last the average in lge 1 was £22
19 July 2018 at 1:58 pm #170407£25 would of been better imo last the average in lge 1 was £22Thats my point, our fickle lot wont pay it we dont get much more in at £15 a game unless we play a cup game against one of the big boys, we may as well make some money out of the away supporters, i expect us to pay around £30 at Hillsborough and more at Elland Rd and the likes.

19 July 2018 at 2:39 pm #170411Lots of our fickle fans are paying less than the £15 a game. They have season cards.
Empty seats will look great on TV compared to some full away ends.19 July 2018 at 2:46 pm #170413Simple solution then, buy a season card or don’t moan about matchday tickets!
One lad i know (Doogie) some will have heard/know of him, emigrated to Australia a few years back still buys a season ticket to show his support for the club!

19 July 2018 at 4:34 pm #170420One lad i know (Doogie) some will have heard/know of him, emigrated to Australia a few years back still buys a season ticket to show his support for the club!Let me get this right. You know someone who spends the best part of £300 a year on a season ticket that they will never use?
19 July 2018 at 5:03 pm #170423I for one support the club’s ticketing policy. £28 for the visit of Sheff Wed may put off a couple of hundred Wiganers, but the visiting fans will happily stump up £28 and I’ll guess they will sell out (4500+).
If we’d charged £25, then it may have generated another 100 Wigan fans, paying £2500 in total, but the £3 difference on the price paid by away fans would result in a loss of £13500+ and an overall loss of £11000+. A drop to £20 may result in 500 extra home fans (£10K), but a loss in revenue of £36K on the away fans. The more it is dropped in price, the bigger the shortfall. Wiganers are tight and even if you made it a tenner, you’d need an additional 8100 to show up to make up the difference!
As others have said, if you don’t like the matchday prices, get a ST – but only if you can make enough games to make it worthwhile!
19 July 2018 at 6:25 pm #170424I am all for charging big clubs like Wednesday Leeds Villa etc £30 + to subsidise both our Season Ticket and Match day ticket prices.
Easy just make the South and North stands £30 + and the East and West £15-£20. Season ticket holders would still pay considerably less and other home fans wouldn’t get ripped off a ridiculous £28-00. In reality though they won’t get ripped off cos they won’t pay it and we can show our shiny seats to all the press.19 July 2018 at 6:32 pm #170425One lad i know (Doogie) some will have heard/know of him, emigrated to Australia a few years back still buys a season ticket to show his support for the club!

Empty seats will look great on TV compared to some full away ends.Anyone can get a season ticket and pay less than £15 per game.
There has been plenty time over the close season to have saved up a few quid towards it. Anyone can even pay monthly if necessary.I hope we are not having another season of whingeing about matchday prices when there has been every opportunity to get a season ticket at a vastly reduced rate.
However, I still can’t see the East Stand ticket Office being open too often.
19 July 2018 at 11:20 pm #170441Can’t see any ticket office being open on match day at that price. It won’t be needed. It’s either season ticket or radio.
8 or 9,000 Season card holders who don’t turn up every match is going to make the ground look very similar to last season. A few more season ticket holders but less paying on an individual match basis.20 July 2018 at 12:15 am #170444Can’t see any ticket office being open on match day at that price. It won’t be needed. 8 or 9,000 Season card holders who don’t turn up every match is going to make the ground look very similar to last season. A few more season ticket holders but less paying on an individual match basis. To be fair I don’t think there were many who paid on the day last season and hopefully some of those will have got a season ticket this season.
The ones that haven’t, who only go to a few matches, an extra couple of quid every now and then will make no difference and they will still go anyway.
It’s the fans who go to 10 or so matches that may not go to as many, but most of those will most likely get a ST to save money, and they will also have the choice on whether to go to the thirteen remaining matches.
I don’t think there are that many who pay on the day these days at many clubs.
We are now in a league where you have to maximize your income, cheap tickets won’t attract new fans, its been tried and it didn’t work.
Charging rafts of away fans more makes better busness sense as a previous poster stated. If that means we lose a few stobborn floaters who would rather whinge than pay up front for the same product but far far cheaper, then so be it.
Would you rather see “the shiney seats’, or a better run club with more income that can compete better with others clubs because they have increased there revenue stream at the expense of a few fans, but paid for from the income gained from the opposition.20 July 2018 at 12:21 am #170445One lad i know (Doogie) some will have heard/know of him, emigrated to Australia a few years back still buys a season ticket to show his support for the club!

Either you’re full of shite or your mate is whopper.
If it’s the latter, then I can suggest more worthy causes for his £300

Maybe a few more shiny seats and an even better run club. Still only be £20 a match. I am sure most fans would welcome that. Whats another few quid a match?
20 July 2018 at 2:13 am #170453Donny, have you got a ST for next season, and if not why not?
