someone was telling me that some lad ran onto the pitch and tried it on with a stoke keeper and was thrown to the ground was the keeper fined or anything

DID he say Kirkland went down like a ‘ton of bricks’? If so, it’s because he actually DID go down like a ton of bricks. (I thought a sniper had done him, tbh) The ironic thing is, in his latter appearances for us, he never went down as quick….the Blackpool 4-nil debacle, anybody?.

And that’s the thing, “he played for us”. Is that why many have got rose-tinted glasses on? Come on! Disgusting assault, no question, but he definitely went down….like a sack of shit. He was pushed, not smacked.

.

I bet if I did a running shove of all my weight onto your jaw you would go down like a sack of shit too you tool.

just take a look at karate they’re not throwing punches round like an angry school kid its about putting all of your weight onto a certain point e.g. side of the jaw.

Seeing the video it looked a real brain shaker.
Salford, why the childish response? Why you getting personal?

Fact is, Kirkland is what, 6’4? I’m sure he’s taken worse knocks than that in his career and stayed on his feet. I thought his back had gone again, to be honest.

You compare it to a karate punch….it was far from a karate punch, or a punch of any kind, as it happens. It was a two-handed push. Nothing more, and the guy who did it was hardly stocky. “A running shove” you call it, no it wasn’t even a running shove.

Regardless, it shouldn’t have happened.

I quote you “I bet if I did a running shove of all my weight onto your jaw you would go down like a sack of shit too you tool.”

For 1: Why resort to calling me a tool? Because I told it as I saw it?

and 2: No, I don’t think I would go down like that in all honesty. The bloke didn’t shove him on his jaw, or with ‘all his weight’-there was nothing to the idiot who did it. And no, I’m not giving it the ‘big man’. I have an endomorphic stature, thus meaning I have a lower, heavier, and lower sense of gravity. Stocky? yes, overweight? yes, harder to knock over, definitely.

So Salford, no need for the crass riposte. I was simply being honest about what I saw. It was an honest post.
Nothing personal about it but its far too easy to sit behind a computer screen when you are clearly mistaken about what can knock out or stun someone temporarily.

I didnt compare it to a karate punch… You rarely see a punch thrown in karate or what i have seen of it .

Stepping in full force with a forearm or a palm in the face is a more efficient way to knock someone to the floor than a punch to the face.

Anyway the reason i challenged your post is i thought it to be a very childish dig at a man who whatever you think of him was assaulted in a very cowardly manner.

What does it matter how he fell to the ground ? Its completely irrelevant and silly comments from people who don’t think before they speak like you and Warnock only goes against what was a serious assault on a defenceless unsuspecting victim.

I’m sure if you were assaulted on national tv with your family watching you would be happy to know some tool on the internet somewhere wants to make light of the fact the “overweight stocky fella” should of stayed on his feet and fought back.

Yeah im the childish one.. :S

Sorry, going back on to the technicalities of the punch/shove, the reason Kirkland went down in the way that he did was because it impacted in his jaw. The jaw is incredibly weak and it takes very little force, particularly when taken by surprise, to shock the body when struck. If there’s any boxers around this forums, I’m sure somebody will back me up with that.

I feel for his poor family who will no doubt be very upset, ashamed and suffering at the moment because of his stupid actions.
No matter what we think of him he is somebodies son/brother and he has messed his young life up trying to act hard in front of his mates.
I have a son around his age and he attends football matches in a good high spirited way like most lads his age but i know deep deep down he would never act like this at a football match.
It will deter others im sure from doing the same but the clubs have to provide adequate stewarding and policing to prevent this happening again especially during high risk matches such as the one this game was.
A massive lesson to young kids who attend matches and think it is big and clever to act in the manner like this fool did on friday night.
Im not sure the players celebration after the goal helped the situation either-seemed rather confrontational in my view.

Sorry to disagree, Vince, but this guy has a long history of banning orders. This wasn’t just getting carried away. He deliberately went there while banned and then got so tanked up he alleges he can’t remember what he was doing. He has chosen to ignore previous trouble he’s got into, has learnt absolutely nothing, and has continued to act provocatively to the authorities.

Four months is nothing. He should have been charged with breaching his ban.

And as for sympathy for his family. They know full well what he is like. If they really cared they’d have done something to sort him out.

I have no sympathy for him or his family. Just wonder how much the hard man he’ll be in gaol.

Agree totally, GL.

I saw the article on him in yesterdays People newspaper. It had a picture of him as a rather geeky looking child, when he was a matchday mascot at Leeds. How did he turn into the absolute idiot he has become?

A Leeds fan, from Gloucestershire. Brilliant that. Just about sums up the football in this country. He’s had a banning order since the age of 16 and is banned from using the rail network travelling into any town or city that Leeds United are playing in on that particular date. He has been caught breaking this order THREE times previously.

He bragged on Facebook that he had “had sex” after getting home. Well, he might get a bit more sex yet when he’s biting his pillow on D wing…..hope so.

Absolute scumbag.

SALFORD-Can we agree to disagree on the way Kirkland went down? I have my opinion, and you, quite rightly, have yours. Neither of us are going to back down or change our minds, are we. Fair enough.

REFINED-LEMUR-Having done some boxing, I can honestly say a boxer wouldn’t have been felled by that shove. Honestly. Not wanting to get in a row or debate with you, but a proper boxer’s stance wouldn’t allow a push of that manner to push you over. It would have to be a decent hook or uppercut. That’s MY opinion, anyway. No need for debate. Cheers.

I’ll keep it zipped then, but only because I grew up in Appley Bridge, not your compelling argument ;)

BOLLOCKS. now i like a drink especially before a game on a saturday and i know if i had drunk half that much i wouldnt be able to stand up never mind get myself onto the pitch and tw@t someone. also how come people who can’t remember certain incidents because they are so pissed can remember exactly how much they’ve had to drink?

I hope you’re not one of those people who spouts a load of rubbish at the dinner table and when getting proven completely wrong says “well thats my opinion so there”

Sorry Dave but if you post something on a message board or similar medium then it will always be open to debate regardless of your exit strategy.

And I hope you’re not one of those people who is adamant that it is their way or no way at all, who refuses to even consider anybody elses opinion.

For 1: How the hell was I ‘proven completely wrong’? Not one thing has been proven at all. I’ve read and heard other people saying Kirkland went down very easily, so it’s not just me that thinks it.

and 2: Why did you even have to reply again, when I had quite clearly drawn a line under the matter to prevent it spiralling?

Message boards are about debate. Not everybody agreeing. Or else, what would be the point?

No need for a reply. (You probably will though)

If you call drawing a line under it saying there is no need for debate then carrying on with the same issue directed at another poster then you are as deluded about drawing a line under something as you are about what can put someone to the floor.

Seeing how important it seems to be for you to get the last word in why would I want to let you take that liberty?

Careful Dave I see another breakdown coming on….
