Fans of this club are split.
Fans who only started supporting the club in the division 1 promotion season are anti Martinez and have unrealistic expectations of Whelan.
The rest of us (the minority I admit) support Martinez and Whelan and apreciate the sheer effort it takes to keep a small club like ours in the Premier League. Furthermore, we are not obsessed with staying there as no matter what league we are in we will be there supporting our team.
I was actually shocked at the Stoke game as to how many people around me (Old-timers) were saying they’d had enough of Martinez. I kind of can see where they are coming from, but then again I’m not convinced either way. I think we could get rid too soon, rather than not soon enough. And who would be bring in to replace him?
But whatever, I was shocked by the level the crowds derision has risen to. What next? Season tickets launched at him in the dug-out? How pathetically sad would that be?
