Said on weather report before that its on its way and will hit North West tonight and early Friday morning, causing travel chaos. (As always) Have to say that seems credible with the weather today and sleet. Sky looks full towards the West and thats where the weather front is coming from. Just had some hail showers too.
Could see Saturdays game in jeapordy, not just because of the pitch, but more so the approaches to the ground and surrounding area on safety grounds.
Lets see eh, and hope for the best.

The issue is always the bridge over the canal as the waterways agency don’t give a toss whether the game is on or not.

Aye, and club cant even get groundstaff to put salt down on and around bridge because if anybody slips and hurts themselves, theyll be liable.
Theyve given it to snow and then also reach freezing temperatures, which isnt good. Memory fails me, but how did we go on in 2010 when it last snowed bad and seemed to freeze solid for about 6 weeks. Did we have a few games postponed?
7 December 2017 at 9:07 pm #163975We had one in the prem once and one last time we were in league one from memory.
Played villa one year when it snowed real bad. May have been 2010.
7 December 2017 at 11:35 pm #163976Bolton game on 21/12/09 was called off due to snow. We were in Australia for Christmas it didnt snow there :woohoo:
Blackburn game 26/12/09 conditions very bad around the ground and a few peeps said it should have been called off. Game went ahead 1-1. Didnt attend as above :P
18/12/10 Villa game. Called off in the morning after the undersoil heating failed. Pitch frozen.
9/12/17 Fleetwood….wait and see
8 December 2017 at 12:20 am #163977Can never understand the issue with approach roads and paths. Robin Park retail park was awash with shoppers when the last game at the DW was called off. Kids in prams, toddlers wearing wellies, old folk with walking sticks and football fans are not capable of walking to the ground.
From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!8 December 2017 at 12:27 am #163978Great snow games. Halifax at home in FA Cup. Graham Oates scored from corner.
Froze as a little lad when Alfie Craig equalised(disallowed)in last second against Tranmere in FA Cup replay.8 December 2017 at 12:34 am #163979Great snow games. Halifax at home in FA Cup. Graham Oates scored from corner.
Froze as a little lad when Alfie Craig equalised(disallowed)in last second against Tranmere in FA Cup replay. The Halifax game was the first time I cried at a football game. Fekin Freezing! The second time was May 2013.

What a journey!8 December 2017 at 1:14 am #163980One year, we put straw down and our game was one of a handful to be played. Leicester had their bubble Arsenal had under soil heating and Latics had the bales. If my memory is correct we drew with Wimbledon 0-0. Must have been early eighties can anyone else remember and elaborate on it.

Not many didn’t shed a year in those last minutes of the cup final. It was unbelievable.
John Rogers equaliser in 73 at Wembley did me too.8 December 2017 at 1:30 am #163982Dinner (lunch) time was bright sunshine for that Halifax game, so I went with just a Ben Sherman shirt and a Wrangler jacket as upper body protection and walked it via the Gant pad.
Didn’t feel the cold and the snow piled about two inches deep on the top of my head, thanks to Graham Oates and Billy Sutherland.
8 December 2017 at 1:47 am #163984Halifax in the FA cup is the coldest I can ever remember being at a match, got home after walking back over the Gant pad to Newtown and holding my feet to the
Coal fire … “you’ll get chilblains”….”I Couldn’t give a bugger I’m not budging from this fire till April”Billy Sutherland scored from the corner….can’t remember owt about the Graham Oates goal ?
8 December 2017 at 2:14 am #163986I remember a FA Cup match at home being abandoned because of snow, I think it was against Bournemouth, but I could be wrong.

Got them the wrong way around.
It’s the roads and areas the club/council don’t own JR. The canal, industrial estate, bridges etc.
8 December 2017 at 3:31 am #163989One year, we put straw down and our game was one of a handful to be played.I went down to Springfield Park on the morning of that match to help clear the pitch of the straw, it was a great atmosphere and we were thanked with free admittance to the match. It felt great as a younster to have done your bit to help get the match played.
