8 December 2017 at 11:15 am #163991Great snow games. Halifax at home in FA Cup. Graham Oates scored from corner.
Froze as a little lad when Alfie Craig equalised(disallowed)in last second against Tranmere in FA Cup replay. That was the game I stood on the town end with breeze blocks on my feet. It was that cold it felt like a pre season game at Oldham .
8 December 2017 at 11:20 am #163992I remember a FA Cup match at home being abandoned because of snow, I think it was against Bournemouth, but I could be wrong.Remember the Northwich game horc? 3-0 up then the poxy fog came down and it was abandoned.
8 December 2017 at 1:47 pm #163995I spent the Halifax match nice and warm behind the picket fence of the bottle bar under the St Andrews drive side stand supping barley wines.
8 December 2017 at 2:10 pm #163996The Met Office are full of shite and invariably wrong! Don’t know what it’s like in Wigan today but here ( leyland ) it’s sunny and not even any ice apart from a little ground frost first thing this morning!
8 December 2017 at 5:56 pm #164002Can never understand the issue with approach roads and paths. Robin Park retail park was awash with shoppers when the last game at the DW was called off. Kids in prams, toddlers wearing wellies, old folk with walking sticks and football fans are not capable of walking to the ground.Agree with you. I think its just the club being scared of the ‘claim society’ in which we live today. If someone slips and breaks their hip outside the main entrance thatll be a compensation claim against them. Damned if they do, damned if they dont. Worse in fact of they put salt down and then someone slips as they will be held even more liable! Crazy.

I think that outside the ground and approach roads is the jurisdiction of the police and it may well be they who advise the game to be called off. Don’t think the club have much say in it.
8 December 2017 at 8:07 pm #164007I was at that Northwich game, from memory there was a match very close after that nearly got called off for as well.
I reckon we will be on tomorrow, get your thermals out, freezing on the school run tonight9 December 2017 at 3:27 pm #164020I remember a game .v. bournemouth i think in the ’85/86 season. Won the game 3 – 0 with a tony kelly screamer & the game was played with a white ball.
