You don’t look stupid mate. It will just prove you’re not so old or boring that you listen to things like Talk Sport every morning like I do!It’s a FA/UEFA ruling which stops players signing up for clubs and then getting out their contracts when a better offer comes along. The only loophole is that he has to prove there was just cause to terminate his contract. Not sure what classes as a just cause, but I’m pretty sure that ‘I didn’t like the training facilities and there’s a lack of investment in the team’ wouldn’t be considered a valid argument.
I personally wouldn’t want him at the club even in January as he’s known to be a poor trainer, and recently has had slow starts to the season as he’s overweight and out of shape by the time he comes back from the summer break. Given the length of time he is going to be without playing for a club (can’t see him voluntarily training with a club just to keep in shape), come January, I think he’ll be finished.
Pity, because he used to be a great player.
Oh reet, I thought it was just the transfer window thingy, i was thinking well if his contract is terminated he is a free agent again like this M’Bami fella that wer’e signing.
I have just rememberd something similar, did we not try to sign someone once but couldn’t cos you can’t play for 3 clubs in 1 calendar year.
