…are seriously starting to do my head in, in the first couple of minutes McCarthy passed to Gomez a good 2 or 3 yards short and left him on his wrong foot, what did half the mongs near me do blamed Gomez which started a good 45 minutes of blaming Gomez for everything that went wrong.
The same mongs (well the one sat behind me) twice shouted to the players to get a foot in when we actually had the ball. Another instance was when DiSanto had the ball 3 yards away from Gomez lost it but guess who got the blame, Gomez at this stage i just turned to the lad sat next to me shook my head and we both agreed that most people around me havent got a clue.
I thought Watson and McCarthy were both not up to their best today but obviously it was the whipping boy Gomez who took all the blame. At the end of the day it wasnt Gomez who gave the ball away in the first few minutes that gave the goal away and put us on the back foot for the rest of the game.
FFS give Gomez a break.
25 September 2011 at 12:48 am #71617Gomez does take a lot of stick which is sometimes unnecessary, but it’s possibly because he’s garbage. Can’t really remember a player more hated than this man tbh.

FFS give Gomez a break.you cannot possibly defend gomez on his showing today -no matter how bad other players were you cannot take away the fact that this fellow is so slow its painful and embarassing to watch, there is not a forward pass in him, he constantly gets caught in posession, his movement is atrocious, and he avoids tackling opponents with a high degree of skill.
apart from that hes ok.
One thing about NOBODY has the right to boo him or cheer when he is taken off, gomez does not go out to try and be poor – one person and one person alone is to blame for signing him in the first place and continuing to play him.
25 September 2011 at 2:38 am #71637One more thing that i missed saying – despite his short comings gomez is not the worst player in our team/squad that honour goes to figueroa without any shadow of a doubt, and he has been since he conned martinez/whelan into extending his contract.

25 September 2011 at 2:47 am #71642Can’t disagree with that, LMB.
On Figgy, probably explains why we signed one of the most promising left backs in football on loan for this season.25 September 2011 at 3:05 am #71648One more thing that i missed saying – despite his short comings gomez is not the worst player in our team/squad that honour goes to figueroa without any shadow of a doubt, and he has been since he conned martinez/whelan into extending his contract.

Last week i couldnt get a radio signal for wish Fm where i was and had to listen to the game on one of the liverpool stations, i think it was BBC merseyside.
when i got home i said to my wife and daughter, Everton had hammered us and they said we were a shocking side, at this point they both corrected me and argued according to wish fm we were by far the better side, played really well and the result was a travesty.
Later that evening while watching the game on football first my wife said “this is a totally different game to the one i listened earlier today”but dont let that little ditty get in the way of you lop sided view on the world.
