Down to ££££s and £££s alone as the main motivationsl factor. I can not prove this so my un-educated guess is just a presumption.

Absolutely correct. Just a presumption.

And I presume otherwise.

Will Moyes prove more successful than Sir Alex at United? I very much doubt it. United fans will just have to accept Moyes as a reasonable successor.

Will Martinez prove as successful as Moyes at Everton? Again, I doubt it. Liverpool are emerging from a spell of poor management and underperformance. I expect Liverpool – with a budget twice that of Everton’s – to challenge and overtake Everton. But that won’t be Martinez’ fault.

Martinez made promises of improvement at our club and failed in league terms, he knew the financial situation at the club and didn’t help his cause when Whelan backed him to sign Boselli and he was a dud, yes all managers make mistakes but we can’t afford many, I will watch Roberto’s progress with interest as we all will if we’re honest, I’m far more interested about what happens at Wigan than anywhere else but as fans it’s sometimes difficult to understand what Everton (amongst others) saw in a man who relegated in his words his “best ever squad” . I’ve moved on and am happy to wait for Coyle to find his feet, doesn’t mean I won’t comment if an ex manager does something of interest .

I work for a small company and if we started making less money and the gaffer said to me “you have been absolutely brilliant for us constantly punching above your weight and that’s why we want you to stay and take a pay cut. By the way we will be selling your nice computer and desk and swapping it with a less expensive model and you wont be getting that new office we promised you” I would be off in a heart beat.

Fair point, but did our gaffer, DW, say any of that?

And what you haven’t also mentioned is that you were recruited for a not insignificant amount of money to take the company to the next level and repeatedly promised us (despite 4 years of under performance) that that was where we were going, but at the end of it just spunked the investment of 20000 (well maybe 10000) ultra-loyal customers. ;)

We can only speculate as to what he requested but we do know Whelan turned him down.

Do we…..????
To be fair no we don’t and that is a glaring assumption on my behalf.

Sammy – I am all for people discussing past players & managers etc. but hoping the guy fails is pathetic.

I hope any one who is of that opinion loses their jobs under the same rationality.
I remember you on a number of occasions wishing Steve Bruce all the best! ;)

To be fair, it seems like a good proportion of Latics fans want Owen Coyle to fail.

Bob should have stayed and had a go at promotion.

Why, what the f*** have Bob’s career choices got to do with you?

its his opinion – whats that got to do with you?

So why bother saying it?

But the important thing is we won them.

If we proceed in the Europa League will you say “It was only some Slovenian team …”

Well to be fair we probably wont win it. My point was that we masterminded victories over lower league teams. Shame we couldnt have done it enough times in the premier league. Taking nothing away from us winning the cup.

Very lucky to get through against Bournemouth.
Struggled against Macclesfield. Could easily have gone to a replay.
Comprehensively beat Huddersfield.
Comprehensively beat Everton who finished 6th in the Premier League.
Comfortable win against Millwall. Passed them to death.
Worthy winners against Manchester City who finished 2nd in the Premier League.

Not all against lower league teams and when the strongest squad was on show the results were hardly in doubt. I also maintain that should we have lost to Everton we would still be a Premier League club.
