This is the South Stand Bar at the back of the South Stand, that is to say it is the Suite under the South Stand.
There is room for around 1000 people and so there is loads of space with tables and chairs.
There are two static bars with bottle/can bars seperate and so service should be quick. I can’t comment on whether there will be proper galsses or not, but i can say that I have never had a platic one yet.
Early kick off games will be shown and there are plans to have past and current players and managers to come in there for a mingle and chat in the future.
To have a smoke you just go outside the door and have a smoke behind the stands I assume.
24 February 2011 at 12:00 pm #60329Regarding prices, if it’s anything like the Marquee, it’ll be quite expensive.
I went in there with 2 mates who follow Everton, when we played them last year. It was one of their rounds and as he went up to get the drinks in, he got the shock of his life. For 3 pints and 3 double Jack Daniels, it came to £37! :o
Cue the other two of us dipping our hands in our pocket to pay our share.
That said, if they could do the ‘two pint’ steins like they used to, and sold them at a reasonable price, say £3.50, they’d do a roaring trade. Chuck in a few bar snacks, and it can be good.
Just please god, no David Speedie. I still find it surreal that we had an ex player who had nothing whatsoever to do with our club, playing the ‘comedian’ and matchday ‘host’. That was…..well….weird, wasn’t it?
24 February 2011 at 1:44 pm #60337While I hear all the talk and understand some of the misgivings about returning to the south stand bar.
The facts are i will and my friends will go, because we support the supporters club.
They have had to deal with a certain chairman that will always be motivated by self promotion and money, promises where made and never kept.
The fact that we still have a supporters club is something we should thank the committee for, i would have thrown the towel in a long time ago.
Keep up the good work and hopefully things will get better from here.24 February 2011 at 1:45 pm #60339Looks well…..
24 February 2011 at 2:00 pm #60340I don’t think you will see David Speedie near the DW Stadium anytime soon. :angry-boxing:
FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that

I’ll probably give the club a go, to see what prices are like, and if overly expensive will just use it for an occasional pint.
But all things considered, Red Robin get’s rammed with away fans, you can’t move a lot of the time, and F&B is expensive anyway. It’s ok if you’re having food as well. And as for the champs bar, half the time it’s cans on sale, and I cannot be bothered paying over the odds for cans and standing outside the sports centre. You’d be as well nipping into Asda.I just hope they clean the pipes properly and serve a decent pint. Had a bad pint in the stadium a few weeks ago, and it properly knackered me in for a few days. Pains in my kidney’s, etc. I don’t think they’d flushed the pipes properly. :x

24 February 2011 at 7:31 pm #60354Only at Wigan Athletic would the both the club and the supporter’s club be roundly criticised for moving back into an excellent facility within the stadium.
If there were premier league points awarded for gratuitous fan criticism this club would be challenging for the Champions League.
Fair play to you for getting back into the stadium. Personally, I’ll be staying in the Brick :obscene-drinkingcheers:
24 February 2011 at 10:01 pm #60360Shouldn’t you be in there now, griff?
Happy you-know-what.

I think you’ve totally missed the point Griff. Nothing to do with the fantastic facility afforded by the Club, more about the reasons why we have not been in there for the past 5 seasons. :snooty:
From Matlock to ManU

That was the first thing my dad said, when I told him earlier. Didn’t want us when the corporate bums were on seats, now they’ve dropped off, they’re playing the ‘generosity’ card.
25 February 2011 at 3:16 am #60379I don’t think I have, JR.
What’s done is done; move on
25 February 2011 at 3:18 am #60380Garswood, i was elsewhere tonight.
But thanks for the sentiment :)
25 February 2011 at 3:55 am #60381I don’t think you will see David Speedie near the DW Stadium anytime soon. :angry-boxing:i may be off cock here jay but it came to light a while ago, that an ex latics employee was up to no good behind the scenes trying to unsettle one of our players (nzogbia i think) some on here, and other boards, accused brenda, others claimed it was matt jackson that was at it – looking at your rather furtive, non explanatory nod nod, wink wink type post am i adding my regulation 2+2 and coming up with 4 or am i way out on 5 as usual :?
