They’re going on a team building trip. Lots of clubs do that.
Then he’s clarified there will be an alcohol ban until the players are match fit, which, again, most clubs do.
He’s more than likely only made this 2nd announcement to Paul Kendrick because people like you have expressed their faux-outrage on social media at the thought of players enjoying themselves when you would have them run until they’re sick and beaten with birch branches for a week.
I agree Standish, as a professional driver I also have a very small window when I can have alcohol. Friday and Saturday is the only time I allow myself a beer as normally I’m up at the crack of sparrow fart every other day so ale is a no no. Basically what Cookie is saying. The lads will be able to let their hair down at the right opportunity and he expects them to be professional when required. He will probably be as drunk as the rest on this trip then he wants total focus on return. I like his thinking.

And to be fair to paul cook, it seems to have worked for him so far at his other clubs. Maybe a bonding session is just what the team needs to get us back on track.

For now, I think I’ll stick to the safety of my window sill area outside, I can make a hasty retreat from there if necessary.
