I think we can get a result on Saturday, but given that Tottenham are well and truly in the Champions League mix, I am expecting to lose – that way, I don’t get too down-hearted when it happens and everything else is a bonus.

Writing off the Arsenal game too, I am hoping that 7 points from the others will be enough, especially if 3 of them come against Villa.

I watched Villa against United and I have to say that some of those young lads look like they might struggle with the pressure of a relegation scrap. I hope our experience in this will give us the edge. The key to our survival might not be the games we play but those we don’t – ie, Villa’s results.

Bizarrely that’s the weird philosophy I approach a lot of things in life. Expect the “worst”, because in the likely event it doesn’t happen whatever does happen doesn’t seem quite as bad. I call it “reverse optimism”.

I have plenty of faith, but it is tempered with a healthy dose of realism.

Oh, and if you ever stumble across a dictionary, unlikely, I know, look up the word “can”. It isn’t the same as “will” – lad.

When you find that dictionary, look up the word “think”. It isn’t the same as “know”.

            Fortunately, I don’t care what people I don’t know think. ;)

Come on, chaps – we’ve got to stick together!

I’ve been looking forward to seeing Gareth Bale play, though now I’m having second thoughts.

But Wigan have a disciplined, compact style. They should be able to stand up to Spurs. And I think that Spurs are much better going forward than defending. We should be able to create – and hopefully take – some chances.

Like Spurs, Arsenal are chasing a place in the Champions League. The Arsenal game comes on the Tuesday after the Cup Final and is followed by the Villa game on Sunday. Arsenal will have a free weekend, and Villa will have a free midweek.
I would much rather play for the points against Villa than against Arsenal.

Aston Villa did look like a team of school boys against Manchester United, and were lucky that United did not continue in the same vein in the second half. I’d be inclined to make changes after the Cup Final for the Arsenal game, and send out a strong and fresh team against Villa.

Maybe we’ll have a day when we see chances converted, 2-1 Wigan, Kone first

As in the city game and 2nd half at West Ham we will have a lot of the ball and are more than capable of frustrating Spurs ,just got to convert the few chances we get.I try not to get pre-occupied by how other teams might fair, just get results in ours and see where it takes us.2-1 home win for me .

                  #111005

I didnt fancy our chances against West Ham and I am feeling the same about tomorrow.

AVB will have the players at his disposal who can exploit a couple of our major weaknesses e.g. lack of defensive ability down the wings and lack of pace in our CB’s.

That being said I am hoping to be proved wrong and I am still totally confident we will stay up.

We can realistically play West Brom and to an extent Swansea off the park on our day and I think the Arsenal game is written in the stars to be three points for us.

If it goes down to the Villa game after that then so be it.

I have no doubt we have a much better team than them and have the experience necessary to get the job done despite last day pressure.

For similar reasons that’s why I’ve backed Spurs so if we win I don’t mind losing the money. Win win situation………..

                      I think

Lets not forget , till they made changes and scored they were 2nd best against City. They did exactly what we did to Everton. I keep saying the same old quote:-

“It all depends which Wigan turns up”

I watched bobby’s interview on Latics Player they other day and he was talking about player availability for the Spurs game. He said Golobart is at stage one in a three week programme to get back playing. Apparently it’s an ankle injury.
